Life & Work with Luis Borja

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luis Borja.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It honestly all started out way before I had any control. My dad had a VHS and would record pretty much everything! Growing up there was always some sort of camera in my face so I guess that slowly transitioned into me picking up my mom’s camera and capturing memories with my high school friends. I would bring out the camera at high school football games and post the recap of the games on YouTube.

On the side of that, I wanted to have fun so I would set up these challenges for me and my friends to do and we would upload those to YouTube as well. I was in love with YouTube and the people’s lives on there so I knew no matter what my life was going to be that it would definitely include YouTube. My goal in high school was to record every single summer and post it on YouTube under the name “Eras To Come” once college came around I knew I had to step it up. I went to college to study marketing because that’s what my family told me to do but honestly I think I went to college to study YouTube. If you came onto campus you’d most likely see me on my phone watching YouTube, filming a video, or editing. The school was my last priority. Fast forward a couple of years and I had a house with my best friends and we called it Project 118. This was a tough year to do anything because this was the peak of Covid. I still filmed videos in the house with my friends but honestly, covid took a huge chunk of my motivation. Still to this day, I am repairing the spark to upload and share my story with the world.

I dropped out of college because online school sucked and moved across the country to sell solar because my main goal in life is to change the world for the absolute better. I am constantly filming and taking pictures to capture memories but as of right now I’m not posting much content on any platform… very soon here I will be sharing my life once more with the world and I am actually super excited to get back on the wave!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When I was 7 my parents divorced. My dad moved back to Ecuador and my mom and I were stuck renting out the downstairs portion of our home. After a couple of months of living like this, my mom and I moved to Costa Rica. I left all of my friends and this was part of my life where I felt like I lost everything. Fast forward a year and now I’m back in Minnesota. We moved into my Grandpa and Grandma’s house and now it was time to attend 5th grade. I was able to reconnect with my friends and actually became the president of sunny side elementary school. 5th grade was a very hard time for me as I was still trying to comprehend the last couple of years of my life. Fast forward to middle school and high school, I was always the kid with a smile on my face and pretty much a class clown. I think my reasoning for this was cause now I was finally surrounded by my friends again but this brought a lot of hate.

Especially when high school came around. It was honestly one of those things where the more creative I got and the more adventurous I became the more hate came with it. I always did my best to push past this but when Covid hit I definitely had time to sit and reflect. During this time I took a huge step back to rebuild myself. This is where I fell in love with reading and meditation. To this day I am still trying to grasp what this reality has become and trying to figure out ways to help the younger generations and guide them toward the best path possible in life, which is different for everyone!!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am known for my videos and pictures. When I was in high school I created this YouTube channel with my next-door neighbor Dustin, we called it Project Sploosh. Our main goal of the channel was to post funny challenges but throughout the years the channel turned into a documentary, vlog-style channel. I love to share stories and help guide people toward the freedom to think and grow as an individual.

I am most proud of being recognized as the guy who loves to shoot and not so much as the YouTuber who loves to do crazy things but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t proud of that as well. The main point that makes me stand out is I just document. None of my videos are here to fake my life or fake my beliefs. I capture authentic moments in my life and just share them with the world!

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
In no way shape or form would I ever want pity or feelings of saddest towards my story because that is not the way I look at it at all. I am beyond grateful for my story but at the end of the day, I am still a kid trying to figure out what puzzle pieces went missing along the way.
