Hi Lisa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We are so fortunate to be part of a community that has supported us through year-long construction on our roadway, limiting access to our restaurant, and of course through Covid.
Our customers supported us by doing takeout religiously during that time, and we in turn do all we can to support our local community through events and donations.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am the marketing manager for Birch’s on the Lake. I manage the website and social media posts and content, as well as all online information for Google, Open Table, and many other online services. Since Covid, I have taken over the management of private events as well. We host events of all kinds here at Birch’s, from weddings, receptions, and family and corporate events.
Our events can be large or small, from birthday celebrations to full-level or restaurant buyouts. I am also a floor manager, so I have the opportunity to interact with guests as well. I love the variety of the work I do, while it can be challenging to wear so many hats, I love the opportunity to help the business grow and be part of the success we have seen here over the years.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My biggest mentor is Burt Joseph, owner and proprietor of Birch’s on the Lake. He has been in this business for many years, and I have learned so much about making a restaurant successful from him.
While I worked in restaurants during my college days, my business background is retail software sales and implementation, so it has been very interesting to be back in this industry learning things from a management perspective. My best networking in the time I spend with guests when managing the floor. I meet so many people and have been able to develop relationships with many local business managers in the community.
