Conversations with Emilee Jacobson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emilee Jacobson.

Hi Emilee, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Ever since I can remember, food has been an integral part of my life. While I was born & raised in Minnesota (still here after 24 years!), my mom’s heritage from Louisiana brought an entirely new ballpark of Cajun cuisine into my diet ever since I was little. While no chef could ever top my mom’s talent, for years, I’ve tried to find the best and most unique places to dine throughout Minnesota and across my travels elsewhere. There’s an unspoken power in food/dining and how much it brings people together.

In addition to my passion for eating, I’ve grown up writing about all different kinds of things since I was a child. I started a blog when I was about 15 years old and have continued to write creatively and editorially since. Over the years and, after my studies & a bachelor’s degree majoring in Journalism, I’ve found that I have a real passion for reviewing. With a background and a full-time career in advertising, starting ‘Sincerely, Eats by Em’ on Instagram was a no-brainer. It brings so much joy and gives me a hobby to pursue outside of my day-to-day responsibilities and career. I love providing recommendations to others and giving credit to businesses/restaurants when & where it’s due.

Dining is a serious business to me. If I spend my hard-earned dollars & free time doing something, I want it to be worth it. Every individual has that right and should genuinely take the time to consider their options and where their dollars are best spent. Moments of true ‘togetherness’ are hard to come by, and my account is all about ensuring that my followers & community take full advantage of them. Every dining experience is a special occasion, especially when shared with another. My dining experiences, recommendations, and insights can give assurance to my viewers and allow them to shape their best possible experience.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Truthfully, I’m just embarking on this journey. There are so many accounts that I follow who are so far down the road and have gained so much proficiency with time.

I’m hoping to build my following over time by resonating with my audiences. Thankfully, at this point, this little gig is just a hobby for me that I find enjoyment in. If I ever had the opportunity to turn it into something more than that, I would full-force.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I operate as an Account Executive at a well-known advertising agency in Minneapolis. I grew up under a serial entrepreneur who made his mark with the invention of the above toilet/urinal advertisements. It’s unique, and my upbringing and resume follow a similar path. I am passionate about helping people and brands bring their values/services/commitments to life.

My role allows me to do this daily and ensure we rise above every roadblock. Although I’m only at the beginning of my career, I’d like to think that my experience across marketing in multiple realms (social, copywriting, e-commerce, etc.) allows me to be a jack-of-all-trades with a handful of offerings and insights to offer.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I’ll start with what I don’t like: the weather. Minnesota winters are dreadfully long and at times depressing. Still, after 24 years, I’ve chosen to stay.

There are so many things to love about the Twin Cities. I think my favorite has to be our midwestern spirit & attitude. Our people for the most part are so kind and compassionate towards others. We know how to come together to help others when it’s needed. People are hospitable, welcoming and want to make you feel like you belong.
