

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christien Hurlburt.
Hi Christien, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Our team’s journey started like many others, with an idea that turned into a passion. Not a short or easy journey but one that we were committed to bringing to market back in 2015. We wanted to build a better product that would increase packaging efficiencies in the beverage world while protecting your amazing products.
It began with the idea to design First Element Kegs for the wine industry and quickly evolved to the rest of the industry with a focus on Craft Brewing and Distilling.
After many trials and, of course, errors, we were able to achieve our goals of creating a product that embraced sustainability, efficiencies, and huge economic benefits. Not only did we want to change the way the industry looked at plastic kegs but we were committed to adding a level of customer service that we could all raise a glass to.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I always like to say that if creating a product that didn’t fully exist was easy, we wouldn’t be the only version available globally. The list of challenges along the way has mostly revolved around trial and error.
The biggest challenge was making a small change to one component and the trickle-down effect that they had. You tweak a spring strength and the next thing you know, the seal has to be changed also.
