Meet Kelvin Garcia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelvin Garcia.

Kelvin Garcia

Hi Kelvin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In high school, I took acting classes and a few plays.

The feeling I would get when I delivered a funny line and heard the burst of laughter from a full theater gave me the bug to pursue stand-up comedy. I got on stage for my first open mic back in March of 2019, and I haven’t looked back since.

We all face challenges, but, looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not and still isn’t. Being an up-and-coming stand-up comic, you have to deal with a lot of different obstacles. Money is a big one.

We use our own money to travel to festivals and to do shows in other states. Even to go out to open mics to work out material, you have to spend a bit of money.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a stand-up comic. I’m most proud of the voice I provide for the people back home.

I may have not lived everything that I speak about on stage, but I have witnessed a lot of it and or know many people who have experienced certain things that I speak about in my act. I pride myself in being true to myself, through my type of humor, language, and many aspects of my Puerto Rican culture.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from where you grew up.
Going to a WWE event live was probably my favorite early childhood memory. John Cena was there but I didn’t see him (corny John Cena joke).
