Check Out Big Jmac’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Big Jmac.

Big Jmac

Hi Big Jmac, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I’ve been writing and recording music for 21 years and started a label with a bunch of like-minded people over the later years I took up other hobbies that took me away from music but now I’m back to it full force.

I started from studio to studio then progressed and went on to performing on small stages, open mics, and arenas opening up for various artists such as Boosie, 2 Chainz, Waka Flocka Flame, R.A the Rugged Man, T.I, Young Jeezy, guttaguttamac Mane, Icewear Vezzo, Slim from 112, and Juicy J.

I ended up losing a few close people in my life due to gun violence which caused my sudden departure from music. My music is my expression and release of events in my life moments, memories, goals, and ambitions.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Growing up in Frog Town and the Eastside of Saint Paul, I ended up losing a few close people in my life due to gun violence which caused my sudden departure from music. Succumbing to the pressures of the streets I found myself in and out of jail from the age of 14, I went to JDC later ended up in totem town, and had to drop out of high school but later got my diploma while incarcerated.

I ended up in and out of adult detention centers after the age of 18, having to constantly prove myself being the only Caucasian male in the neighborhoods. I faced a lot of prejudice from not only the streets because of the color of my skin but the police as well because of the way I dressed and who I was associated with.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As a musician, I’m known for my flamboyant fashion and personality it all comes out in my music I’m very loud, outgoing, and generous.

I’m known for making upbeat party music that gets everyone to dance and have fun. I’m all about making the crowd smile and engaging them that’s what sets me apart from the next artist.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see my lane of music in Minnesota becoming a very big portion of the switch and vibe of today’s music.

There’s too much drilling and killing glorification in today’s music and where I come in is making music for the culture I’ve always appealed to multicultural crowds and that’s where I thrive connecting with everyone to make people smile and dance and know that it will be a party every time, they see me.
