Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Denton.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi! My name is Morgan Denton and I am from Wisconsin Dells, WI. I have lived here my whole life and have gotten to experience the beauty, tourism, and local business community in depth. When I was younger, I was ALWAYS told by family, friends, co-workers, teachers, etc, that I would be amazing in any journalism, communication, or personality career that I would pursue.
I never really knew exactly what I wanted to do when I was in high school, or even in college. I did end up getting my degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, but I’ve always known that I was meant to do something more. I pursued that path because what I did know was that I wanted to help, connect, and learn more about people. It wasn’t until after college that I realized I wanted to start sharing more of my life on social media. I started a Tiktok, kept up with my Instagram, and started writing blogs.
I was not expecting too much out of it right away but it acted more as a creative outlet. I was finally doing something that felt like it made sense to me. After traveling for a few years and coming back to my hometown, I realized just how much my community (and the Midwest) had to offer. I started posting regularly on Tiktok about Wisconsin and Wisconsin Dell’s travel and QUICKLY grew a following.
I have been posting and working on my brand for almost two years now, I have recently created my website, and I have started doing freelance work for local businesses. My dream is to become a travel blogger full-time and just continue to create content that I and others enjoy. Being able to bring people together and to expand my skill set in editing, photography, and video creation, has been my muse through this whole process.
I love what I do and I hope to continue doing it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I truly do not believe that anything is as smooth as they say or as people think it might be. My road has been a little bumpy. Not knowing what I wanted to do with my life growing up was always really challenging for me. All of my friends had their careers picked out, knew what they wanted to go to school for, knew where they wanted to work, or had a step-by-step plan.
It seemed like I was the only one that had no clue. But I was never freaking out. I knew that something would come along and I would eventually be where I wanted to be. I’m still not exactly where I feel like I should or want to be but I am working every day towards it. I would love to do this full-time and turn this into a career rather than a side hustle or hobby.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a travel content creator that is based in the Midwest. I create videos on places to eat, attractions to visit, hotels to stay at, landmarks to see, and anything else along the way that I can turn into content. I specialize in the Wisconsin Dells area and I am known mostly for going to restaurants and giving food reviews. Recently, I started creating content FOR businesses and doing freelance work.
This is my favorite part of my job. When businesses ask me for help, I am flattered and nothing brings me more joy. I get to go to their business, film, or take pictures, put the content together, and send it out in the world. I love creating relationships with local business owners and bringing more people into my hometown. I am most proud of never giving up. There were so many times when I felt like I was running out of ideas, I was getting turned down by businesses, or I felt like I wasn’t growing anymore.
But, I worked through it and I’m doing better than I have before. This is hard work and the most invested in something that I’ve ever been, but I am so proud of what I have accomplished. I think what sets me apart from others is my honesty and personality. I have a very loud, outgoing, and bubbly personality. I also am 100% honest in my work and in my videos. I will always tell my followers the truth and I pride myself on earning and keeping their trust.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t think that people just “have good luck.” I believe that everything happens for a reason and people are supposed to be exactly where they are. I think life gives us all hardships and obstacles because we are MEANT to get through them and learn something from them.
If something good happens to someone, then it’s because it was supposed to happen that way. Sometimes it seems like things were just handed to people but nothing is ever as they seem, especially online.
Some may look at me and think that I didn’t work hard to get to where I am or that I was blessed with a job or hobby that I enjoy but, I know that it was meant to happen this way and I was meant to do this. I have had my share of “good” and “bad” luck, just like everyone else has.
