Life & Work with Concept Corleone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Concept Corleone.

Concept Corleone

Hi Concept, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.

There’s a quote I once heard “I see my life in terms of music.”―Albert Einstein! That’s a quote I’ll never forget because I was born for music! I didn’t choose music, music chose me! I was born with this talent. I discovered myself through music when I was a 12-year-old young man! Started by creating my first mixtape on CDs freestyling and selling them on the streets of downtown Minneapolis.

During my journey, I’ve been through it all. It has been one crazy but enjoyable ride! My music life has brought me to the bottom of the bottom and top of the top, and I’m okay with that. From first recording my first album in my uncle’s basement studio to being homeless, Fights, Shootouts, having my daughter & Thrown to the wolves to standing and performing on stage in front of thousands, that’s why my fans and other local musicians would tell you I’m a “legend of Minneapolis.” At 33 years old now, I can tell you from 12 years old when I first started music to now my passion for music has only gotten deeper.

One of my greatest music moments in life was performing at First Ave and being put in the position where I was not on the streets anymore and finding solitude. I find peace in my music, and it sets me free and allows me to express myself through my words and voice. Come check me out and follow me on my YouTube Page and Music Journey! CONCEPT CORLEONE

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

To be honest it has never been a smooth ride for me. I’ve been through more than one can imagine.
I was always the person that they wanted me to be and when I realized who I truly am I just took off started at my mother’s home at about the age of 16 started working at Burger King and then in just a matter of years by the age of 19 I met a male named Calvin and a Female named Katie at the time these became my managers and support system I recorded a 19 Track Mixtape Titled *(Welcome 2 My Dream!)* In my mother’s basement we then put together a photo shoot and my managers had over 4-5,000 copies plastered and we hit the streets from Mall of America Which forntunaly got me put on TV on mall cops lol we went to Burnsville Mall, SouthSide of Minneapolis, Northside of Minneapolis, Downtown Minneapolis, University Of Minnesota & Gustavus Adolphus College I mean everywhere we could but I shortly took a wrong turn later on by thinking I could do it all on my own so I took the money we saved and started working on my new endeavors & My Next Mixtape Titled *(The Vault!)*  Which sold great numbers as well and allowed me to help & put some of my friends on at the time which created the label (EtherInk!) *(The Vault!)* Put me on stages like the Red Sea, Fine Line & Underground Music Cafe and many others. At the time I still wasnt haven’t much luck with getting signed again or should I say being put in that position from people like Calvin & Katie again And life started taking it’s course I was dealing with poverty, homelessness, Trying to go back to school, Having a new born child & deal with all the truths that life had to offer. I began to doubt myself. Heavily drinking, Doing drugs, Selling blank CDs when I was low on funds, Robbing, Stealing, Womanizing, Couch Hopping, Staying in shelters, Hustling and doing what I needed to do to get by. During that time I met someone named Rodney Rush and recorded a 15 track Mixtape Titled *(Deserved!)* & Shortly After Released A Project Titled (The Concept Of Maurice Harmon) Which ultimately landed me a show at First Avenue & Gustavus Collage. In 2021 I Dropped My First 7 Song EP Titled (Gateway!) Which was
Powered by GGE (Go Getta’s Entertainment)Now in 2023 I am looking for so much more to come Be on the look out for my Upcoming project it will be dropping sometime this year or first quarter next year Titled (No Betta Time!)

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?

My work speaks for itself but we can start from the beginning, I started making music at the age of twelve. My heart has always been in music since a young man, Music has the power to transport us to another time and place. I grew up in the lovely hometown of Minneapolis, MN, and take pride in my hometown through my music.

I got the great opportunity of meeting multiple known people in Minneapolis one of them being Tom who owns Toms Watch Bar and shockingly created the Mcgriddle! This is a great accomplishment of mine seeing I have a passion for cooking, which goes hand and hand with me being hired through Toms and meeting more well-accomplished people on an everyday basis that’s why ever since a young age, I have found great joy and satisfaction by being involved in the creative music process. I am known for being a Minneapolis “Legend” Through Musicians & Fans as they saw me work my way up which is another great accomplishment of mine.

I came up on my own through rap music from the bottom from selling my first mixtape on the streets to performing on stage in front of thousands. Here is a touch on my music journey and so much more to learn about me through my music journey that will continue.

How do you define success?

Success is a very strong and powerful word but yet a stronger action, I’d say taking care of your self-worth, self-care, Positively impacting the world & Being You! & of course great lengths of financial stability.

That’s how I define my success.
