Meet Francisca Pass

Today we’d like to introduce you to Francisca Pass.

Francisca Pass

Hi Francisca, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
We are a Mexican-American family that has combined our passions for culture, languages, self-love, experience, design, and craftsmanship to create. We are deeply passionate about blending culture, art, and art to create unique designs, stickers, apparel, and jewelry pieces. Over the years in school, we have gravitated to craftsmanship, design, and art therapy to showcase our interests.

We started our business in the summer of 2023. Everything started after one of us lost our job and had knee surgery. We had always wanted to do something with all of our interests and took this as an opportunity to try something new.

At Dozoles, we believe that art has the power to transcend boundaries and tell unique stories. Drawing inspiration from diverse cultures and traditions, we aim to celebrate the beauty of cultural heritage through our apparel, jewelry, and sticker creations. Each piece we craft is infused with symbolism, craftsmanship, and personalized touches, ensuring that it becomes a cherished heirloom for its wearer.

Our mission at Dozoles is to not only create exceptional apparel, jewelry, and designs but also foster a deep appreciation for diverse cultures, and artistic traditions and promote self-love. We are dedicated to promoting sustainability and ethical practices in every aspect of our business. By intertwining cultural narratives, craftsmanship, and conscious creation, we aspire to inspire a world where art and beauty are celebrated in harmony with our planet.

We can be found in markets and social media.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a bumpy road but we have been blessed. At the beginning of 2023, we started a business and through our process, we registered three different companies trying to figure out what we wanted to do.

We have always been hard workers and have had various side hustles. We have done Uber, Airbnb, painted houses, and landscaping. Throughout, our process we supported each other and realized that creating things for people made us happy and gave us a purpose. Our family and friends have been very supportive throughout our transition.

During this process, a challenge has been not having enough sales. Encountering accidents at markets that end up in product damages. Another challenge is doing seasonal markets during fall and winter.

We are constantly learning and doing a plethora of trial and error. However, we enjoy the process and the evolution of the work. We love meeting new people and working with the community to create art and being part of their vision.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?

Something surprising about us is that we like to try new things. We are adventurists. During Minnesota’s cold weather, we like to go snowboarding, drink chocolate abuelita, and eat pan dulce.

We like exploring the state parks, canoeing, kayaking, and camping. We love dancing and playing soccer. During the weekends we volunteer and coach soccer to kids.
