Jeremy Turek Knightfall Studios

Hi Jeremy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been playing in bands since 2001 and my band at the time decided to move out of the garage of my parents and get a rehearsal space in MPLS. Lo and behold we ended up in Wrinkle Studios and I immediately fell in love with the building.

After many years of bouncing around different spaces in the building, we got a primo room that was perfect for recording. After a bad recording that my band spent a bunch of money on I decided I had to figure out how to record on my own. I spent many years learning on my own and mostly recording my band until I finally felt confident enough to start reaching out to other bands and trying to record them.

In 2019, I talked the band “Throw the Fight” into letting me produce a song and they liked it so much we have been working together ever since. Naturally, I reached out to more bands and started recording more and more.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been rough. Working a full-time Graphic design job for years and trying to turn Knightfall Studios into more than a hobby has been tough.

Covid was cruel and I was bandless so I focused more than ever on recording and found plenty of bands that weren’t playing shows and still wanted to put out music.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I would say I specialize in heavier music. I love adding production elements to make songs larger than life. The most streamed song I’ve produced is by the band “Throw the Fight” called “Wolves in the Dark”.

It was the second song with them I recorded and I’m proud of how it turned out. Currently, it has over 6 million streams which blows my mind. Through them, I have got to work with some bigger names in the business. I’ve worked with Joseph McQueen and Josh Gilbert from Sparrow Sound.

I just recently wrapped up two songs that I produced and  Carson Slovak & Grant McFarland from Atrium Audio Mixed and Mastered.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love how close to the country it seems. You drive 20 mins south and it’s farmland. I don’t like the 394 ramps getting on to 94W lol.
