Hi Kathryn, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We purchased the Greenhouse In 2017; my husband and I both have full-time careers on top of the Greenhouse. Neither one had a horticulture behind us, but we were looking for a house to purchase, and the Greenhouse was a bonus. Andy always wanted his own business, so I agreed to help him live his dream. We grow 90% of all flowers and veggies from seeds; each year, I change my hanging baskets, combinations, and arrangements. We always strive for the best; we have great new and old customers yearly. We carry hard goods, dirt, mulch, trees, and shrubs, keeping our prices low. We do a yearly bare root sale so people can plant trees cheaply. Yes, customers can go to a big box store and get some of the same flowers for a discounted price, but I can guarantee our flowers will outlast any big box store flowers because we strive to keep our plants healthy. Ensure customers know how to care for them, from haircuts to watering and fertilizing. We have grown in the last few years; we have entirely remolded the Greenhouse to make it handicaps accessible for some of our customers who have a hard time getting around.
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Each year has its struggles; the weather has a significant factor on our crops; if there is no sun, there are no blooming flowers; if there is too much sun, the flowers struggle with the heat; 3 years ago, one of our Greenhouse clasped because of the snow, which made us have to rebuild sooner than planned.

I own the Greenhouse and have worked as a radiology technologist in the hospital for the past 17 years. I am a busybody; most people call me a squirrel because I am easily distracted, but I always get everything done.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
My husband and I are the central employees. We do have some family help during the busy time, but it’s mainly the 2 of us planting and watering.
