Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Roberts.
Hi Nikki, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I embarked on my journey in the wedding industry while still juggling the responsibilities of a full-time teaching career. During this time, I observed a growing trend: the exclusion of children from wedding celebrations. Understandably, many couples expressed concerns about how the presence of children might disrupt the carefully orchestrated plans and atmosphere of their special day, which they had invested so much time and effort into creating. However, it became apparent that traditionally designed weddings cater predominantly to adult guests, leaving little room for the younger attendees. Determined to address this gap, I started The Kids Table, a company specializing in providing solutions for couples seeking to incorporate children into their wedding celebrations. Our services range from creating designated kids’ areas within or near the wedding festivities, with age-appropriate entertainment and activities, to offering neutral-colored rentals that blend seamlessly with any wedding decor. Additionally, we provide professional monitoring and babysitting services to ensure that children and parents can enjoy the event without worry. As our company grew, we expanded our offerings to include services for various events beyond weddings and specialized packages for kids’ parties. Through The Kids Table, we strive to enhance the overall guest experience and foster inclusivity and joyous celebrations for guests of all ages.
Please talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned. Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting a business is challenging, but add a full-time teaching career and a niche in your community that doesn’t exist yet, and you have an uphill!
I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am proud to see The Kids Table grow! No one is doing what we are doing in my area. Every time I explain my company to people for the first time, I always get positive responses that typically include how they have never heard of such an idea!
What do you like and dislike about the city?
The people are by far the best part!
