Hi Meghan, I’m so excited to have you on the platform. Before we ask about your work life, you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Photography & Art have always been my passions, guiding me toward the enchanting world of makeup. In college, my love for painting and photography led me to explore makeup artistry, delving into the captivating realm of color theory. As I went deeper into photography, I realized the importance of styling in easing my clients’ nerves before a session. This led me to attend makeup school, where I learned to seamlessly integrate styling services into my sessions, hair styling, and spray tanning. Specializing in headshots, single-family portraits, and event styling, I enjoy guiding individuals to showcase their authentic selves. Whether enhancing their natural beauty or capturing their resilience, each session celebrates their journey. Witnessing the transformation from apprehension to empowerment is my greatest reward. I thrive on collaborative creativity, co-creating memorable experiences that transcend the confines of a photograph. Beyond photography & styling, I find solace in chasing after my daughters, baking/cooking, hiking, traveling, and enjoying Minnesota’s waters.
Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
The journey has sometimes been rocky sailing, and being a solo artist and wearing all the hats can feel incredibly isolating. There have been countless lessons learned along the way – from crafting new contract clauses with each client to understanding the delicate dance of work-life balance as an entrepreneur. Learning to say no to opportunities that once seemed enticing and navigating the evolution of your business vision – it’s all part of the journey. I never anticipated my work would follow me home, consuming my thoughts 24/7. Learning to switch off became a challenge, leading to burnout periods where walking away seemed the only option. And then came 2020 – a year of seismic shifts for many, personally and professionally. While my business thrived financially in 2019, my personal life was rocked by upheaval in early 2020. Forced to pivot, I delved into my second passion: Marketing & Branding. Despite the abrupt change, this shift offered a welcome reprieve. It allowed me to step back from the constant pressure to create and focus on being present for my two daughters. Becoming a single mom was a monumental transition that reshaped my personal life and breathed new life into my business and who I wanted to serve changed. It reignited my passion for what I do, reminding me of the joy of capturing moments and creating art.

As both a photographer and makeup artist, I offer comprehensive styling services – including makeup application, dry hairstyling, and spray tanning – to enhance your natural beauty and boost confidence before your portrait session. My focus lies in professional headshots, single family portraits, and special event styling. I take joy in preparing my clients for their sessions, highlighting what makes them shine and helping them show up as their best selves. Through styling, we not only enhance their natural beauty but also forge a deeper connection, easing any nerves around being photographed. I take pride in supporting individuals during transformative moments, such as newly divorced or single parents, capturing their resilience and growth in empowering portraits. Seeing my clients’ confidence blossom throughout our session fills me with immense joy – it’s like unwrapping a present on Christmas morning. I thrive on channeling their energy and amplifying it during our time together. Collaborating on creative ideas and image displays is another aspect of my work that I deeply enjoy. As an artist, I break the mold with my promptness and organization. While creativity flows freely, I appreciate structure. When I’m not creating, you’ll find me diving into extreme sports like mountain biking, axe throwing, skiing, and CrossFit. But deep down, I have a soft spot for baking. In another life, I’d be a pastry chef or running a mommy and me bakery. Music wise, I’m a huge fan of David Bowie. His tunes inspire my weird. And for a simple pleasure, nothing beats my love for cinnamon.
