Today we’d like to introduce you to Dan Howe.
Hi Dan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The journey to starting R+R Spa began with a series of injuries I suffered during high school and college. I had torn my ACL and also dislocated my knee multiple times, resulting in several surgeries and many years of physical therapy and rehab. The passion was born there in those countless days of rehab. I learned to love the science of recovery and how far the body can heal and repair itself with the proper tools. The next significant milestone was my introduction to a health coach, training, and assisting clients in rehab. I have fallen in love with helping others prehab and navigate post-rehab. Fast forward to today, we have opened a space for people to recover physically, mentally, and spiritually. We carry Infrared Saunas by Sunlighten, Cold water immersion by Plunge, and Hyperice’s Normatec Compression System. I must also say that R+R Spa, the house of recovery, would not be a fraction of what it is if I didn’t take the opportunity to mention the healing done by Amy, Zoe, and Emilie.
Zoe – The owner of Emerald Heart Collective, brings a unique blend of practices to R+R Spa. Her primary focus is on Reiki Energy, Sound, and Flower Essence Healing. She is also a Clinical and Community Herbalist, Birth Doula, and Placenta Encapsulator. Zoe’s love for nature and community-building is evident in her work, as she strives to bring people together, recognizing our interconnectedness.
Emilie – She is a transformational coach and psychedelic guide. Her unique approach stems from her healing journey with plant medicines. She has overcome traumas and obstacles and wants to help others do the same. Through her sessions, she uses ancient and modern methods to help her clients unlock their healing power. She believes in the healing power of altered states of consciousness that can lead to complete transformations.
Amy – Her love for helping people has grown substantially over the last 10 years of practicing massage therapy. The knowledge and techniques she has obtained surrounding pain relief have set the foundation for how she facilitates a bodywork session. She wants to work with, not on, a client. She wants her clients to see/feel/understand the pain in their body as not the villain but as the language that is trying to tell them something.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road, but most certainly always worth it. Building the space took long days, multiple weeks, and months to prepare. Lots of sweat and blood went into tearing out old flooring to make way for new. We were taking down various walls only to build better ones. Once the doors opened, it was constantly trying to hit some bumps, re-aim, try again, hit more bumps, re-aim, and try again. We have reached a point where we can feel the flow of things working. I must give the credit here to Amy, Zoe, Emilie, and our amazing clients.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a one-stop shop for recovering the health and well-being of your physical body, mental health, and spiritual. Our clients come in from hard workouts, extended work weeks, stressful days, and everything. We make space for the individual to take back their power of healing. We are the house of recovery. We specialize in infrared Saunas and cold water immersion (contrast therapy). We also have compression therapy, Reiki, bodywork massage, sound bath healing, transformational coaching, and psychedelic guiding. We are professionals within our unique fields who pull from our knowledge of academia and our experience. Each of us has gone through a unique healing journey, which is why we can meet the clients where they are the second they walk through the front door.
Can you talk to us about the role of luck?
We have experienced a lot of manifestations along this journey. Divine nature allows those who need healing to find us and for us to see each other. In this way, I have felt so fortunate.
