Today we’d like to introduce you to Tito Martinez
Hi Tito, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Tijuana Mexico, as a kid I was always curious about drawing and handmade crafts, in my early days I got influenced by the 90’s cartoons, punk rock and graphic t-shirts. In my teenage years, I started experimenting with art designing logos for bands, making flyers for shows and creating stencils to apply them on t-shirts, skateboards and on the streets, influenced by the DIY ethic. Through all that I knew that I wanted to do something art-related for a living.
While studying Graphic Design I had the opportunity to learn its different paths, and really got into illustration and brand identity. Later on, I started my own t-shirt brand where I explored different techniques and processes, developing apparel illustration and identity design skills in the streetwear industry. After graduating from college, I founded GAME design and started working with entrepreneurs and emerging brands and at the same time collaborating with branding agencies in the United States in which I have had the opportunity to work with clients inside and outside the country, such as Saudi Arabia and China.
My work has been recognized in various platforms like Design Rush, featured in ‘The Best Beer and Brewery Logo Designs 2024’ for the ‘Cerveceria Aberrante’ project and in the annual book ‘Favourite Design 2021’ published in France for the ‘Canicula Packaging’ project.
A couple months ago I moved to Minneapolis and I’m currently engaging with the design and art community, open to grab a beer or have a chat about any design and illustration projects.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think we all have some struggles along the way, sometimes you feel unmotivated to continue or doubting about your skills, maybe finding the right audience to share your work with or positioning your project can be a challenge, I think this is something you can overcome by doing the best you can, being opened-minded and staying focused on what you love to do.
