Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Norton.
Hi Jack, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started traveling before I was born and never stopped. Feels like most of my entire life has been spent on the road. Wandering, searching, dreaming, exploring. After repeatedly dropping in and out of school, I finally hit the road for good and spent the next two decades bumming around. My heart has always remained in Minnesota and I love the Midwest.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it’s definitely not been a smooth road. I’ve had to teach myself everything. I’ve worn many hats over the years – first in order to survive then to thrive. Thankfully my wife and soulmate Kitty has been by my side the entire time. I’ve taught myself writing, filmmaking, publishing, web design and so much more. Thank god for YouTube and Google – they’ve taught me more than any teachers I ever had. LOL.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I traveled as a folk singer-songwriter for years, wandering around trying to make money here and there by singing my songs. Eventually I moved into filmmaking and writing. Over the past few years I’ve built a media company with my wife Kitty (creatively called Jack and Kitty Media Group). As a content creator I am a full-time blogger, author, and podcaster. We mostly focus on Midwest travel, feel-good stories and news from the Heartland. I love weird stuff – aliens, monsters, mysteries – so I try to squeeze those articles into our editor calendar whenever I can! Hehe.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Don’t listen to anyone. Not your folks. Not your teachers. Not your peers. Be as quiet as you can be and listen to that soft little voice inside. It’s called Your Soul. Society has probably caused you to not hear him very well, but take time to be quiet and eventually your almost silent soul will start screaming. Follow what Your Soul tells you to do!
