Community Highlights: Meet Andrea Suah of Legendary Hair

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Suah

Hi Andrea, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Well I should’ve started my business when I was I was in high school, because when I was 15,I got my first job at McDonald’s for the sole purpose of funding my hairstyles. I had a new hairstyle almost every week. Yeah I could’ve asked my parents but as much as I changed my hairstyle, they were not going to agree and I didn’t blame them, that’s why I started getting my own money. It would’ve made sense to start a hairline then, but I didn’t start Legendary Hair until 2020 during Covid, also after I had my son Legend. I was selling hair on and off for four years, because you know life happens and we get discouraged along the way. I was selling hair while doing hair and makeup here and there, also while working full time jobs. I hated doing hair though that’s why being a hairstylist right now with a salon suite is still shocking to me. Sometimes we run away from our calling, that’s why being obedient to the Lord and surrounding yourself with people who have your best interest is essential. I never would’ve started doing hair if it wasn’t for my love ones telling me to take it seriously, I only wanted to sell hair but my boyfriend at the time seen more in me and took the initiative of getting me a salon suite. All I had to do was make it into my own with the decor and getting revenue to keep up with the rent. I used to tell myself you know how far you would’ve been if you hadn’t stopped; but I stopped thinking like that because everything happens for a reason, at least I got over the hardest part which is starting. Now I’m here, Legendary Hair’s starting to get some notice so it’s only up from here. The goal is to own multiple salons and beauty bars, so I got some work to do.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth? Oh I wish, it’s life, nothing that’s worth it’s ever smooth. For me trials and tribulations build character and wisdom, that’s why the older generation like our grandparents are so wise. Life teaches lessons a book could never; I’ve had to start over multiple times, made some bad deals and investments but that’s bound to happen so I’m not mad at it. All in all you have to fail in order to prosper, how else are you going to know what to do and what not to do if you don’t mess up?

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Legendary Hair specializes in giving women of every race, skin tone, and size their confidence back with our luxury wigs, bundles, extension’s galore! Not only do we sell wigs and extensions but we also sell the products that goes along with the installment. I’m a hairstylist, I make women look and feel beautiful.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Your business will not grow if you don’t take risks, success will be in one of those risks you take. I had just did a collab with a social media influencer Honory, I provided everything such as the hair, I installed the hair, she had to make a post of the installment on her TikTok that’s what we had agreed on. It could have went left, she could’ve dipped out on me and not follow through with the agreement or worse, I spent all that money on products, the wig, lighting only to not get any gain any followers or customers.
