Rising Stars: Meet Morgan Walworth of Lakeville, MN

Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Walworth

Hi Morgan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Pursuing a career in photography had been a dream of mine almost 20 years in the making. It all started with my elementary school answer to the question “what is your most prized possession?” which was always “my pictures and scrapbooks.” That evolved to taking photography courses, being a high school year book photographer, winning a state photography award, and an internship courtside with the Minnesota Timberwolves photographer. Then life happened: I moved across the country, became a Registered Nurse, married my best friend, and became a stay-at-home mother to our 3 amazing children. Inevitably, my favorite passion took a long hiatus. Photography has hovered on my mind for my whole life, so I’m so overjoyed to have finally answered my calling: Morgan Walworth Photography.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Becoming a mother really shifts your perspective from yourself to your children and I knew that my hobbies would need to wait. It has been the biggest joy to give all of myself to my kids! Although after having our twins, who are 15 months old now, I felt that it was time to get a small piece of me back. I bargained with my husband that I could take our twins’ newborn photos, and I haven’t set my camera down since! My kids have become my favorite subject and have also helped me jump back on the horse in photography.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in real, raw, true- to- life photography. I love movement and evoking joy through my images. I truly love telling stories and aim to have a storybook feel to my photos. The beautiful thing about photography is that you can truly cherish it for years and years to come, so I aim for a timeless edit: true, bright colors, no stiff poses. I love newborn, family, and senior photography most: capturing moments in time that can be relived forever.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
I am a triplet, so my two sisters and I would play and play and play. We have the best memories of playing in haybales, fishing at the lake, dancing, and pretending to figure skate in our living room with Michelle Kwan. As we got into high school, my sisters were my first models and were always willing to execute the photos I had dreamed up. I owe my love for photography to them for helping me make my vision come to life!
