Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Valek
Hi Sydney, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Ever since I was a child, my passion for hair and the beauty industry has been evident. Despite initial doubts, my mom encouraged me to pursue my dreams and attend Aveda, and from the moment I stepped foot in that institution, I knew it was the right path for me. While studying, I also worked as a receptionist in a salon, which provided me with valuable insights into the operations of the industry.
Just days after graduating, I eagerly joined an advanced training program and embarked on my journey as a hairstylist. Over the course of three years, I dedicated myself to building a loyal clientele and acquiring invaluable experience. It was during this time that an incredible opportunity presented itself – an invitation to join a salon that I had long admired. Without hesitation, I embraced this chance to further specialize in the art of color and later expanded my expertise to include extensions.
After four years of continuous growth and accumulating a wealth of knowledge, I began to listen to my instincts and decided to venture out on my own. This is when Sydouré was born! It has now been a year since I took that leap of faith, and I am overwhelmed with gratitude for all the clients, friends, and family who have supported me and made this dream of mine a reality. Their trust in me has shaped my journey, and I am excited for the endless opportunities and growth that lie ahead.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have been fortunate enough to work alongside and learn from a lot of very great people in the industry! Knock on wood my journey has been smooth. I’m not afraid to push myself outside of my comfort zone in order in order to become the best hairdresser I can be!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an independent hair designer specializing in hair color and extensions. I would say I’m known for my fun, bubbly, inviting personality as well as my passion for helping people feel their best. I am most proud of stepping outside my comfort zone and taking the leap of opening my own business. What sets me apart is the undivided attention that I am willing and able to give to every single one of my clients!
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I am incredibly grateful for the unwavering support and encouragement of my parents. They have always believed in me and pushed me to pursue my passion. I also owe a huge debt of gratitude to my fiancé, Alex. He is my rock, always by my side, cheering me on, and offering a helping hand whenever I need it. With their love and support, I am able to be the best version of myself and face any challenge that comes my way. Last but absolutely not least, my clients! I would not be where I am today without their trust, support, and loyalty. The relationships I’ve built with them are the cornerstone of my success. Each client is more than just a customer; they become a part of my extended family. Their continuous encouragement and feedback inspire me to innovate and strive for excellence in every aspect of my work. I am deeply grateful for their unwavering belief in my vision and skills, and I am committed to exceeding their expectations with every visit.
