Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Alexandra
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m a Minnesota native with a passion for sustainable fashion.
I grew up in Minneapolis and after college, I spent some time living and working in Greece which was an incredible experience. During my time there, I came to realize what a beautiful, clean, and convenient city Minneapolis is. So I returned and I’ve been here ever since!
Professionally I’m a digital marketing strategist at an ad agency out of NYC. It’s pretty neat since I’m fully remote so I enjoy the convenience of working from home, but I get to work alongside some incredibly talented individuals. I’m constantly learning new things every day which is important in my industry since the landscape is always changing.
My passion project for the past 5 years has been developing a sustainable fashion Instagram account where I share my love of sustainable fashion and decor with others. It began as a hobby when my colleagues encouraged me to share my OOTDs since they were 99% thrifted. At first, I was very uncomfortable with the idea of posting selfies to the internet but I grew out of that and now I have so much fun with it (when I can find the time to post)! I’ve always had an immense interest in “old stuff” and I’ve been thrifting since middle school – I consider myself an expert thrifter now! Most of my closet and home is secondhand – sourced from local thrift stores, Facebook Marketplace, and secondhand online from places like Etsy, Ebay, Poshmark, Vestiaire Collective, etc.
I’ve had many opportunities arise as a result of putting myself out there on Instagram; I’ve made new friends all over the world who are also interested in sustainable fashion, co-hosted a quarterly sustainable fashion challenge on Instagram with a woman who lives in Hong Kong, was a personal stylist for Arc’s Value Village Thrift Stores, and even did some influencer campaigns for Caribou Coffee!
When I’m not working or running my Instagram, I’m spending time with my family. I have a very supportive partner, a new baby, and two adorable tri-color little chihuahuas who are Instagram famous: @LokiandTurkey
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest struggle with my passion project is probably posting consistently. I’ve taken a bit of a hiatus since becoming pregnant last year and now that the baby is here, I’m really focusing on parenting at the moment but I will be jumping back into the world of Instagram again once we are out of the newborn stage.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m probably most well-known for my sustainable fashion Instagram account, @annazzon. I have even been “recognized” at local thrift stores, I feel like a celebrity when that happens! I am happy to hear that people are interested in me and my personal style and that I’m helping to hopefully remove some of the stigma that surrounds shopping secondhand.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I have a very supportive family who always encourages me to chase my dreams and goals, no matter how big they are!
