Today we’d like to introduce you to Kira (Kaya) Prigornitskaya
Hi Kira (Kaya) , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Kira (pseudonym Kaya).
I would like to share my story. I am from Ukraine and was forced to leave my home and flee the war from Kyiv with two young children.
I am a tattoo artist with a completed art education, working in the fine line style. I worked as a tattoo artist in the capital of Ukraine, and my dream was to continue my tattooing career in the USA.
In Minnesota, I searched for a suitable, comfortable, and bright tattoo studio with a friendly team for a long time, and by a happy coincidence, I found it. The studio is called Mojo Beauty Studio. My journey to realizing what I truly want to do in life has been long (hahaha).
In Kyiv, I worked in a travel agency, then as an office manager in a large company, and then I had a clothing showroom where I sewed and sold clothes of my own design. But my soul craved change, and … I became pregnant, twice (hahaha).
During my maternity leave, I finally realized that to feel fulfilled and energized, I needed creativity, and I found my calling in fine line tattooing. It is the job of my dreams, and I truly love it!
I especially enjoy seeing the happy faces of clients after they see their finished tattoos.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Probably the main obstacle in my path was the war in my home country.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am proud that I did not listen to anyone and went to study at a tattoo school, trusted my heart and made the right decision. I think that my stubbornness and obstinacy makes me a little different from others 🙂
