Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Roby
Hi Anna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My background is in nutrition and research. I graduated at the top of my class from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Sciences. Graduate school consisted of a combined PhD/RD program where I completed my doctorate and registered dietitian internship simultaneously. After concluding my doctoral research, I moved to Washington , D.C., to conduct research at the National Institutes of Health. I returned to the Twin Cities (which is where I grew up) to be by family and established my private practice.
When my husband and I decided to start a family, my innate curiosity and background as a physiologist led me to dive deeply into research on fertility. I was taken aback by the wealth of information I uncovered—so much of it seemed like a well-kept secret. The impact of lifestyle factors on egg and sperm quality and conception rates was profound, yet this critical knowledge wasn’t widely known.
This realization ignited a passion within me to make this information accessible to others. Determined to share these insights, I set out to integrate my expertise into a mission to improve fertility for as many people as possible. Upon returning from maternity leave, I established my private fertility practice with the goal of helping couples enhance their egg and sperm quality, ultimately supporting them in bringing their healthiest and happiest baby into the world.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Balancing the demands of building my practice while taking post-graduate classes and being a stay-at-home mom was incredibly challenging. My days were filled with unpredictable childcare, illnesses, and the myriad curveballs life throws at you. Despite these obstacles, I recognized the profound impact my work could have on people’s lives. Determined to make a difference, I found pockets of time in my busy schedule to dedicate to my practice, often working during nap times. It truly became a “nap time hustle,” driven by my commitment to this vital mission.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was always passionate about learning and found joy in school from a young age. I was an active and energetic kid, participating in a variety of sports including gymnastics, tennis, track, and lacrosse. My social nature meant I had a wide circle of friends and enjoyed being involved in various activities.
Initially, I aspired to be a teacher because of my love for school and helping others learn. However, as I delved deeper into human biology, my interests shifted towards medicine, research and nutrition. The desire to make a tangible difference in people’s lives has been a common thread throughout my life. This blend of curiosity, athleticism, and a drive to help others has shaped who I am today.
