Conversations with Jordan Perzichilli

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Perzichilli

Hi Jordan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began my business journey way back in March of 2020. I began to take a leap of faith on Yoga Teacher Training. I knew I had a passion for Yoga, and I was ready to take the next step into making it a potential career. I was teaching Preschool Full-Time, and I attended and finished my training during the beginning and height of the Covid Pandemic, eventually graduating in June of 2020 as a RYT 200 Vinyasa Certified Yoga Teacher through Studio One Yoga. At the time, my ego was disappointed hearing the news that my Yoga Training was virtual due to Covid Restrictions. Throughout my journey I found gratitude that I was able to attend during such a crucial, difficult time in many human’s lives. I conclude that my training found me in the right time in my life, irregardless of a Pandemic, much-like a “Divine Timing” moment.

Upon graduation I found myself teaching at various Yoga Studios Part-Time while still teaching Preschool Full-Time. Eventually I worked myself up to the opportunity to manage a local Yoga Studio: MAC Yoga Studios. This opportunity led me to quitting my Full-Time job Preschool Teaching, and embarking on a Full-time Yoga Teaching Career. (This was my ultimate goal and dream in the long-run). I had a blast taking my teaching career to the next step, managing MAC Yoga Studios in Mahtomedi, MN. Upon taking my Yoga Teaching Career to Full-time, “The Grounded Peony” was created. My LLC was officially created in 2021 and I birthed my business: The Grounded Peony. I wanted my business name to be more than just yoga; Offering Yoga, Health, and Wellness.

I thoroughly enjoyed managing the local yoga studio because I had a further opportunity to connect with students and the community. However, another “Divine Timing” moment had then occurred, the Yoga Studio I was managing shut down, and I found myself shifting my time and energy back to another Yoga Studio I taught at: Pressed Hot Yoga and Juice, while pivoting other personal changes in my life. With those changes, I expanded my Teaching Career teaching at the Yoga Studio I trained from: Studio One.

Today, I find myself extremely blessed to say I teach Full-Time at Pressed Hot Yoga and Juice in Blaine, MN. I also teach at Studio One Yoga; both White Bear Lake and Roseville Studio locations. I am pleased to serve the community through my business to help others heal through Yoga across the metro. I am Vinyasa Yoga and Yin Yoga Certified. I teach Hot Vinyasa Yoga, Non-heated Yoga, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and more. I have officially been teaching since June of 2020, have seen the ins-and-outs of managing a yoga studio, have taught individuals, large classes, private events, retreats, kids yoga, sports teams, puppy yoga classes, and more! I thrive on teaching and connecting with others and wish to help people succeed with their Yoga/Health/Wellness goals. I believe Yoga is more than just the physical practice; it is essential to the mind and spirit as well.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road. Much-like many entrepreneurs experiences, many people can doubt your vision and goals. I remember when this was all a “dream” and my vision had not come to light. I would speak out loud my desires and I remember many people either doubting me, fake supporting me, or even worse, laughing at the thought my dreams could become a reality. I remember at the time I cared a lot about what people thought about me and this adventure to follow my dreams. I look back and find so much gratitude that I did not let naysayers get me down, and I followed my intuition and calling into this career.

I also remember having thoughts of giving up each time a Yoga Studio closed I grew attached to. I remember having bittersweet thoughts about leaving, or a studio shutting down. However, I reminded myself that this was all part of the journey and I had to walk by faith. Each closed door led to a beautiful new opportunity to teach elsewhere, or teach more at that particular studio.

I had to learn the lesson of detachment. This was important to my career, as well as my personal life. In my line of work, I am grateful that each location change my business stays the same. I, myself, being “The Grounded Peony” meant I could thrive anywhere. I could take a seed and let that grow wherever I found myself. I rooted myself into my work and kept myself grounded through all of the change and continued to grow my business.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Yoga Teacher. I am Specialized in Vinyasa Yoga and Yin Yoga. I am known for my teaching skills; specifically my challenging Vinyasa Flow classes, and my Yin Yoga classes. I love to appeal to the Yoga Community anyway I can. I teach in-person at three Yoga Studios across the metro, as well as I post content on my social media platforms. I am also a B, Halfmoon ambassador. B Halfmoon is a Yoga Company that I love — I have a discount THEGROUNDEDPEONY15 for people to use on their products. I post on Instragram and Tiktok content; Yoga sequences, Breathing Techniques, my event schedule, Yoga tips, discounts for yoga mats, props and accessories, and much more! Anything yoga content, I am your girl. You can find my social media at @thegroundedpeony

What sets me apart from other Yoga Teachers is the fact that Yoga healed me, and I took this leap of faith to teach Full-time to help heal others. Yoga saved me from codependency, negative coping mechanisms, addicitons, self-limiting beliefs, self-doubt, and a lack of self-love. Yoga enlightened me to my highest-self and transformed me into the person I always dreamt of being. Because yoga helped save me, I felt called to dedicate my life purpose to help heal others too. This is referred to what is called “living in your north node.” This work has never made me happier. I feel lighter, I feel healthy, happy, and the best I have ever felt in my entire existence. I knew that if I could share this gift with others, people could heal themselves and feel bliss.

Something else that sets me apart from other Yoga Teachers is that I studied English and Education from Hamline University. Before I took the big risk to embark on a Yoga Teaching Career Full-Time, my ego listened to the societal norms of following a traditional 9-5. I listened to people around me and decided to follow the teaching career that was “safe.” I enjoyed my studies in English and Education because I love to read and write, but something always felt wrong in my heart. I loved to teach, and English teaching was a “comfortable career” I could embark on. However, I knew my heart wanted to follow the risky Yoga Teaching Career. Today, I am grateful I can use my knowledge from both the English/Education background, and my Yoga Education background to make me an overall well-versed teacher.

What matters most to you? Why?
It matters most to me to make a difference. I knew I always wanted to help people in some form. I feel so strongly about my path because I was always wanting someone to help me through hard times as a child. Growing up I didn’t have an easy childhood, I was constantly moving around, and I lacked stability and support. I was lost. I love to write and writing got me through many difficult times until I found Yoga. Once I found Yoga I felt like I helped myself. I was able to take the tools from yoga to transform myself. I knew I wanted to help others with this work. Seeing people heal physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually keeps me going every day.
