Meet Jasmine Clopton of Minneapolis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Clopton

Hi Jasmine, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Since a young girl, My love for beauty has been deeply rooted in my personal journey and the unwavering belief of my African Liberian babysitter who saw the potential for greatness within me, mirroring the essence of Ms. America. Growing up with a mother who was mistreated and disrespected, she often worked a lot. As I grew, I had to draw closer to a belief that harnessed my love for caring for others and community service. The love from my hard-working mother & babysitter, Ms. Ann, profoundly shaped my perspective on life’s essence of continuing to do for others, love those around you and be a servant to those in need. She instilled in me the belief that I could achieve anything I set my mind to. She consistently saw the qualities of a future Ms. America in me, nurturing an unwavering belief in my potential. This formative experience as a child has fueled my passion for mentorship, as I recognize the transformative power of guidance and encouragement in shaping the aspirations of young individuals.
I became a mentor in my high school’s leadership club, then moved on to second chair secretary in my school’s black student union, a part of several extracurricular programs in school. I played softball, basketball and was a cheerleader in high school. Wearing many leadership roles, I obtained a A.S. in Human Services and a B.A. in Interpersonal & Individualized Skills & Communications, with an emphasis on Black Economic & Development from Metro State University. I am a proud member of the NAACP as well as the current sitting Communication Chair for the Minneapolis Branch. I own a Notary Servicing Business called Clopper Notary Services. And continuing to foster my engagement efforts of community organizing, I am the Community Engagement and Partnerships Manager at V3 Sports center where we elevate our community through wellness, education and fitness.
With many years of experience working in community, the decision to join the Miss Black USA Organization was easy. Service, Empowerment, and Leadership are values I stand by and what I intrinsically embody today.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I don’t think it was all glitz and glamour at all. The late-night practices, sometimes twice a day. The vocal, and acting coaching, the etiquette and pageant coaching were all long hours, even traveled out of state to overcome obstacles like being told I wasn’t “experienced” enough to travel for coaching. Other struggles were managing the number of events, appearances and engagements and fundraising I had to attend and do, I quickly obtained a campaign manager through, the HUMAN OF COLOR Hair Products. My girl Tianna is amazing over there! Call her!
While it was all worth it in the end, we can be stumped by bottomless comments, and sometimes the comments are bumpy and can trip you up on your road. Swerve in between that pothole comment and keep cruising!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am deeply passionate about community building and fostering meaningful connections. As a community organizer, core curator, and vibe planner, my work revolves around creating spaces where people can come together, feel seen, and contribute to something greater. I am intentional in everything I do, grounded in self-love, and driven by a genuine love for community and relationship-building.
My specialization lies in effective communication and innovative creativity, always approaching situations with thoughtfulness and a desire to bring out the best in others. I’m known for my ability to show up consistently, whether it’s to support, mentor, guide, or curate intentional connections. My focus is on creating cohesive collaborations that resonate deeply with the values and aspirations of my community, friends, and colleagues.
What sets me apart is my unwavering commitment to intentionality.
As the current Community Engagement and Partnerships Manager at V3 Sports, I am most proud of the trust I’ve built within my community, the positive impact I’ve been able to make, and the way I’ve helped others feel empowered to take action and make a difference. My work is more than just a role; it’s a calling to curate and nurture environments where everyone can thrive and feel connected.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Something I wish I knew starting out that IF I cultivate a deep sense of self-love and purpose—it will be my guiding light through every challenge and triumph I face in business. My advice to any young black individual aspiring to be a professional is to lead with intentionality and authenticity.
Success in any field isn’t just about what you do, but how and why you do it. Be intentional in your actions, stay true to your values, and build relationships rooted in genuine connection and mutual respect. Focus on honing your communication skills and always strive to be innovative in your approach. Remember, showing up consistently and thoughtfully for yourself and others is what truly sets you apart.
