Community Highlights: Meet Alyshia Jackson of Mommy Co

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyshia Jackson

Alyshia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Started from a lived experience becoming a mother overnight in 2013 with my daughter caused me to loose my self identity also led me to becoming isolated with society because I believed my life was over and didn’t take the time to acknowledge the transition I was going through. During my healing journey and rediscovering myself I discovered I wasn’t the only feeling the same way. I wanted to find a like-minded community which was pretty hard juggling a busy schedule and finding stuff to do that align with what I enjoyed so I created it myself. I started by hosting monthly mom events for friends doing different activities. Soon grew to a community with 700 plus moms connecting and empowering each other through our daily roles. Mommy co then became a social club where mothers can come and rediscover their social life or even gain more confidence to keep going. With that we offer kid events as well to help our kids discover a village and have friends while their moms are enjoying me time. Upon request from the community, I started to offer coaching sessions in groups for moms that wanted additional support to find the necessity for self love and self care. Mommy co understands the struggle of finding the confidence to show up for yourself and having the stress of what to wear. Mommy co created everyday merch where 5% of each sale goes back to our social club to keep the events going and cost effective. When mothers wear Mommy Co they feel empowered, seen, and sense of placemat along with supporting another mom need to get out to connect with other mom friends 🙂

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a heartwarming experience seeing mothers come out a shell I was once in. It has been beautiful to see a movement of mothers yearn that same community to be involved in rebrand what a village or even mom friends look like. The most difficult part of this journey is not being able to reach more mothers that need it but also help build up their confidence to show up even its alone because self-love and self-care is not selfish. Alot of times its due to mom guilt, not feeling it’s for them, and even having social anxiety many different reasons that may stop them. I would also say not being able to offer events for free or at a discounted price because it is a need in our community to pour more into mothers which will then trickle down to pour into the household.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Mommy Co is a movement nurturing mothers from the inside to feel confident and empowered as they navigate the challenges of motherhood. Mommy co offers coaching services for mothers that may seek support with self-identity or even clarity in their daily roles. We offer empowering workshops along with mom social events for mothers to get together and connect with likeminded women. We are different than most support groups because we give them the power to do the work with us not for us. Mommy co offer everyday products to empower and acknowledge the busy schedules all moms are juggling and 5% of each sale goes back to our community.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Me becoming a mom over night was featured of the LIFETIME channel this year. Show “I wasn’t expecting a baby Episode 5” and also I really have a heart for the work to rebrand sisterhood in motherhood.
