Life & Work with Kion Rose of Minneapolis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kion Rose

Hi Kion, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Complete freedom and expression in the realm of sound is the core of Kion Rose’s artistry. Hypnotic melodies amalgamate with thought provoking lyricism to create some of the most diverse music on the market. The Nigerian American artist born in Saint Paul, Minnesota hopes to be a vehicle of inspiration to likeminded individuals who believe they were meant to be something greater. Formerly primarily a rap artist, he developed his sound over the years in order to truly manifest the ideas that were birthed in his mind, greatly improving his singing voice and his ability to perform in multiple genres, including R&B, Afrobeats, and more. Pairing such versatility with an idiosyncratic sonic and vocal execution results in a rare brand of artistry that is sure to captivate the masses. His 2022 single “I’m On The Way” has surpassed one million streams on Spotify, and also peaked at #45 on the iTunes chart in Switzerland for Hip-Hop/Rap. The song also gained the attention of one of the A&R Executives at Liberty Music PR. Kion Rose’s limitless vision is sure to make him a household name in the industry.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say one of my biggest struggles is just patience and waiting on God’s timing for everything to fall into place. I’ve always felt like I’m in a race against the clock to get this stuff going but as more time goes on i’m learning to be content but not comfortable with my position in music, to keep the grind going and to progress year after year.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an artist, primarily in the hip hop, rnb, and afrofusion genres. I’m also an audio engineer, as I have learned to mix and master my songs as well as other artist’s. I’m most proud of my growth in stepping outside of my comfort zone with this music, as i am pretty introverted by default and like to keep to myself. But I want to be heard and I want to be known for my work, and the best way to do that is to get outside (literally and figuratively). I would say my quality and versatility sets me apart from others. I feel like I can do any genre, and I feel like I can do them exceptionally well. I really just do what I feel like the beat tells me to do, and I feel like this is a very easy and free way to create.

How do you think about luck?
I feel like I have 0 luck lol I’ve never even won a game of bingo. But if i had to say, I think i’m lucky in being around the people I’m around, and for the connections i’ve made along the way.
