Life & Work with M’kenna Krchnavy of Fargo

Today we’d like to introduce you to M’kenna Krchnavy

Hi M’Kenna, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story begins with my content creation journey back in 2015, when I first started working with long-form video and photography. Throughout high school and college, I steadily built an online presence by sharing lifestyle content on Instagram and YouTube. As the digital landscape evolved, so did I! I’ve transitioned to primarily focusing on short-form content that highlights interior design, the journey of self-discovery in your 20s, and embracing a mindful life.

This evolution in my work has opened incredible doors, from gaining positions in the AI industry to taking on Creator and Project Management roles. In 2023, I even had the amazing opportunity to partner with TikTok (Bytedance), a major highlight in my career.

Over the past year, I’ve taken the leap into full-time self-employment, focusing on creating short-form UGC content and paid ads for brands like Adobe, Disney, Poshmark, and many others. It’s been an exciting ride, and I’m grateful for every step that’s brought me here!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My biggest challenge along the way has been my reluctance to adapt—specifically when it came to switching from static content to video—and my refusal to niche down. As I change, so do the stories I tell online. While that might not be the most algorithmically optimized strategy, it keeps me aligned with my values and audience. I believe that authenticity and growth are more important than chasing trends, and that’s what fuels the way I interact with others online and in real life alike.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What do you do, and what do you specialize in? / What are you known for?

I’m a creative entrepreneur specializing in short-form content creation, particularly within the paid advertising space. I create organic UGC content and paid ads for various clients, including major brands like Adobe, Disney, and Poshmark.
I’m known for my ability to adapt to changing trends while maintaining personality and authenticity. My strength lies in creating compelling short-form video content that feels personal and relatable while also highlighting the key selling points of my client’s product/service. I’m also recognized for my work with TikTok (Bytedance) in 2023, where I developed high-performing content for brands like Bumble, Supercell, and Lyft as well as managed and trained over 700 creators. My clients appreciate my storytelling approach and how I weave my evolving personal journey into high performing advertisements.

What are you most proud of?

I’m most proud of my journey toward full-time self-employment over the past year, where I’ve been able to work with household-name clients like Adobe, Disney, and Poshmark. Additionally, being hand-selected by TikTok’s creative team to produce content for some of their top brands was a major milestone. Overcoming my imposter syndrome and realizing I have substantial skills to offer others was a huge accomplishment for me in my professional work as well as personal life.

What sets you apart from others?

What sets me apart is my refusal to niche down and my willingness to evolve my content as I grow. While this may not be the most optimized strategy in terms of algorithms, it allows me to stay true to my voice and create content that resonates with my audience. My background in creator management and process optimization also gives me a unique perspective, allowing me to approach content creation strategically while staying authentic. I excel at blending creativity with a mindful, personal touch, which strengthens my connection with my personal community. This learned evolution also helps me stay ahead in the advertising world and tell stories in a highly personal way that a lot of other brands fail to do effectively.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memories is receiving my first ever digital camera for christmas in the mid 2000s. I immediately sprang into action making all my younger siblings in models and my pets into characters in my stop motion short films. It was most definitely the beginning of what I do today.
