Daily Inspiration: Meet Jasmine Dawa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Dawa

Hi Jasmine, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Jasmine & I am a mama to 3 beautiful boys and wifey of a hard working USMC Veteran turned blue collar electrician.
I was born and raised in a small town in Southern California. My childhood was probably more complex then most, but we
make do with the cards we were dealt.
Unfortunately, my bio mother was on drugs so when I was born there was to much in my system for her to take me from the hospital, so my grandparents were so selfless to take me in as their own. I have been extremely fortunate to not have had major physical disabilities, but as a teenager into young adulthood, I have my struggled with diagnosed mental health disorders.
Fast forward to adulthood, I wanted to make a change and advocate for young children, so I decided to pursue a career in early childhood education and loved it endlessly. However as time went on, and life changed, I noticed by the time I clocked out of work, I was too exhausted to be the mom I wanted to be for my own children. I was so physically and emotionally exhausted and my mental health started taking a turn for the worst, so I knew it was time to make important changes to better myself and my family.

I have always loved fashion and have had an entrepreneur mindset my entire adult life.
I have done hair, makeup, photography, nail services, you name it on the side because as a military wife it’s extremely difficult to establish a career with the constant moving duty stations and last minute deployments.
I had the idea in my head in 2022 to finally take the risk & start my own clothing boutique.
I did tons of research, started the licensing and financing process and decided to quit my full time job and invest into turning this dream of mine into reality.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely been a roller coaster. As I stated previously, I am a mom of 3 boys and a wife so juggling my own business on top of it all has been so easy task. However, I have ADHD so as much as it hinders me in so many aspects of my day to day life, it also can be a great asset. I thrive in a fast pace and always need to keep my brain stimulated, so it’s always an adventure trying to make it all work, but somehow we make it!
Truly, it is all just extremely rewarding to show my boys that you can do things that you set your mind to.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I create custom dtf/screen printed apperal and accessories. I participate in pop up markets, vendor fairs & events all around the metro twin cities.
I am most proud of the growth of my company in a short amount of time. I have dedicated long hours into it and to watch it become what it is today is truly so rewarding. My favorite part of all of it is customers coming in and sharing how much they love our products or seeing people giggle or share their opinions on our designs and products!

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
On a personal note, as someone who has struggled with mental health most of my adult life, I think it’s important to advocate for those who understand how difficult it is to navigate mental health disorders. Apart from owning a business, it’s so important to do research in understanding your brain and your own self in order to be the best version of yourself.
So yes, I love reading books or listening to motivational podcasts and researching mental health videos in order to better understand my brain and make me a better version of myself as a human, and a business owner.
