Hi Nila, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Growing up with a mixture of both Eastern and
Western culture, I always had a passion for Indian
ethnic wear. I grew up watching Bollywood movies
and was inspired by the Indian clothes the actors
and actresses wore.
I had started a South Asian wedding planning business.
It was there where I witnessed how clients
loved to dress fashionably for weddings and other
festive occasions. However, it was
impractical for many Indian Americans to travel
to India to purchase the selection and style of
clothes they desired. “In the 80s, it was hard to acquire Indian clothes
for weddings, parties and events unless you travelled to India and brought the clothes back with
you. At that time, there was no ShopBollyWear. com where you go online and with a click of a button get an Indian outfit at your doorstep within days. From that experience, I developed the idea for an online
venue that retailed elegant Indian ethnic wear.
I started in 2016 and who would have thought I would still be in business, close to a decade !
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Finding the Right Work-Life Balance for Busy Working Women. Many women struggle with finding better ways to balance work and life and trying to stay healthy all at the same time. I had to put in a lot of hours and sleepless nights to start this venture but I had a great team of support from friends and family to keep pushing ahead. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Every step through the journey is a learning experience and even today there are challenges but you just have to push through to see that light at the end of the tunnel. Never stop just keep going and everyone will attain their goals. You just have to light that passion from within !

What are your plans for the future?
When I first started I thought I would have have other platforms from Rentals to Trade In but I love what I do so much I just can’t get away from it. I just have too much passion and love for this that I really don’t want to start anything else. I believe in give it your all or don’t do it half here and half there.
