Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina (Kris) Holtmeyer
Hi Kris, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Being a multimedia artist and having a passion for the visual arts. I launched my on-site art instructional business Artistic Moments, in 1998, giving me the opportunity to teach a wide range of media, to all ages and abilities. My business began to grow and within a short time, I was servicing a large client base in the Minneapolis area. This included school districts, community enrichment programs, businesses, and other organizations. I believe in a calm and nurturing style of teaching and have acquired many repeat students. I encourage them to feel comfortable with making mistakes on their compositions, as mistakes often offer a new perspective. Exploring different media in a non-competitive environment allows more creativity. Art should be fun and therapeutic!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When I first launched my business, portable on-site art instructional businesses were not common. I introduced my business concept to any client that was interested in learning about this opportunity. Fortunately, many were interested. I have been able to work with amazing clients and students over the past 26 years! I thoroughly enjoy teaching the visual arts and I feel that my students sense my enthusiasm.
We’ve been impressed with Artistic Moments, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I offer multimedia on-site visual arts instruction and specialize in working with all ages, teaching a varied group of gifted and talented, special, and regular education students. My program is designed to encourage students to experience a wide variety of media, in a non-competitive and nurturing environment. My background as a Master Reiki Practitioner emphasizes my ability to be approachable, adding humor and enthusiasm to each class! It is important to me that my students experience success with their compositions, no matter what their level of artistic ability.
