Hidden Gems: Meet Marie Pallansch of Media by MK (Marie K Media, LLC)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marie Pallansch

Hi Marie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been drawn to storytelling through video—it’s been a constant passion throughout my life.
After graduating college, I took a month-long tour of Europe and started a travel Instagram as a digital scrapbook. While I loved capturing the iconic tourist attractions, I realized it was the candid moments of humanity that stood out to me—couples in love, families soaking up the experience, strangers sharing stories, or admiring art. That’s when I knew I was passionate about capturing those small but meaningful details that make up real life.
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and when a close friend who’s a wedding planner introduced me to the concept of wedding content creation, I was immediately hooked. She connected me with a couple whose wedding was just weeks away, and before I knew it, my business was up and running. I still vividly remember the energy and emotion of my first wedding—the joy, the exhaustion, the sense of purpose. I knew then that this was what I wanted to do.
Wedding content creation lets me capture those raw, emotional, and often overlooked moments—like a grandparent tearing up at the ceremony or friends laughing together on the dance floor. I aim to give couples a collection of authentic, heartfelt content that brings them back to all the love and joy of their day, long after the last dance. It’s personal, creative, and a beautiful way to keep those memories alive.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like anything meaningful, the road hasn’t been entirely smooth. Whether it’s learning to capture more details, improving how I frame my shots, or perfecting the little things I might’ve missed at earlier weddings, every setback has taught me something valuable. There’s a quote that perfectly sums up my approach: “Anything worth having is worth working for.” Failures are part of the process, and growth comes from them.
One of the biggest challenges has been pricing myself. Starting out, I didn’t want to price too high and turn away couples, especially since wedding content creation is still a relatively new service. But I also didn’t want to undervalue myself. Learning to set fair rates has been a journey in self-confidence and recognizing that my creativity and dedication are worth investing in.
Imposter syndrome is another struggle, particularly when working alongside seasoned photographers and videographers. Most have been incredibly welcoming, but I understand the hesitation—this is their craft, their livelihood, and here I am with my phone, capturing content alongside them. I always remind myself that what I bring to the table is different. Wedding content creation offers something more immediate and intimate: raw, behind-the-scenes moments that couples might miss in the whirlwind of their day. I have plenty of respect for photographers and videographers, and I see my role as complementary to theirs.
Balancing this business with my 9-5 has also been tricky. I love both roles and never want one to overshadow the other, but I’m fortunate to have supportive coworkers who make it easier for me to pursue my passion on the side.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Media by MK (Marie K Media, LLC)?
As photographers and videographers focus on their craft at weddings, I capture the genuine, candid moments that often fly under the radar using my phone. My specialty is creating social media-friendly content that couples can share with friends and family right away.
What truly sets me apart is that this passion for video creation didn’t just start when I launched my business—it has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started creating videos at 12 years old on my iPod, editing with Video Star and iMovie, filming clips with friends, or capturing memories of my dog to share on YouTube. In college, I honed this passion by working in social media for different clubs and creating “day-in-the-life” TikToks. From travel vlogs to personal moments, I’ve always loved documenting life in its most real, unfiltered form. That eye for detail and human connection has followed me in every step. It allows me to see and capture those small but significant details such as the look on a best friend’s face during the vows, a couple sharing a quiet moment, or the post-wedding excitement between guests. I’m not just creating content, I’m capturing the emotions and connections that couples will treasure forever.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how I’ve built something that feels true to me and genuinely resonates with the people I work with. I’ve had couples tell me that my content helped them relive their wedding day in a completely new way, and that’s exactly the experience I aim to provide. My goal is to deliver not just content, but lasting memories that live right in their camera roll—memories that feel real, intimate, and true to the couple.
I want your readers to know that my service goes beyond the traditional. It’s fast, real-time, and designed for sharing. I offer couples a chance to see their day through a different lens, focusing on the “moments in between” that truly make their day special. My love for capturing these moments drives me, and I’m so grateful to share that with each couple on one of the most important days of their relationship.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
It’s hard to choose just one favorite childhood memory, but what stands out to me are the times spent with my two younger sisters growing up. We were in an innocent, carefree phase of life while learning and growing together. Whenever we’d get into sisterly arguments, we’d always make up by writing “I’m sorry” notes with little drawings and misspelled words as peace offerings. It was our way of showing how much we cared about each other. As we grew up, I loved laughing about silly memories only we understood, and watching the same four movies at our family cabin—something we still do religiously to this day.
One of my favorite traditions was tubing on the lake every summer. The three of us in separate tubes, creating endless inside jokes and funny nicknames from behind the boat.
My sisters have truly shaped me into who I am today. They’ve given me purpose, drive, and the desire to be a role model for them. Even though they’re younger, I look up to them in so many ways. Every cherished childhood memory includes them, and that bond has continued into our adult lives. No matter how different our paths may be, we always know how to support one another through anything.
