Today we’d like to introduce you to Xavier Thomas
Hi Xavier, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The idea for MiracleArts first took root when I was a young child. Growing up in a creative family- I often felt frustrated that we didn’t have enough outlets to share and celebrate our passions. However, it wasn’t until last November that I turned this long-standing dream into reality by bringing it to life through the Minnesota State University- Mankato (MNSU) Big Ideas Challenge. After the competition, MiracleArts became a student organization under the umbrella of MNSU African American Affairs, with the mission to prepare emerging creatives by nurturing career development and supporting local initiatives.
On April 5, we hosted our first event, an artist talk titled “Celebrating the Written Art,” featuring author Destined Darlington Sehgbean Jr. and poet Amber McFadden. This event gave the community an opportunity to connect with these writers and learn more about their recent publications. Later that month, we launched consultation services exclusively for MNSU students.
On June 18, MiracleArts partnered with the Greater Mankato Diversity Council (GMDC) for Mankato’s Juneteenth Celebration. We helped staff the event with an incredible lineup of performers, including Barameer, Caleb Gampson, Janii Sudan, Tru West, 3rd Degree, and Twin Cities Dance Crew.
Since graduating in May, I’ve had the privilege of expanding MiracleArts to the Twin Cities metro area, meeting, supporting, and showcasing so many talented creatives throughout Minnesota.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Being an entrepreneur is not for the weak, especially when add school and work to the equation. But I am debt-free. stress-free (most days) and more importantly, creating an impact.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about MiracleArts?
MiracleArts is an art education organization dedicated to empowering Minnesota’s creative talent. Our mission is to prepare emerging creatives by nurturing career development and supporting local initiatives.
We specialize in educating youth creatives across various disciplines, from visual arts to performance and writing, by providing resources to showcase their work, develop their skills, and engage with a like-minded community. Our programs include Inspire Labs (skill-based workshops), Inspire Series (Online exhibitions and competitions), creative 1:1 consulting and our trademark Resource Guide (Database of all Minnesota resources)
What sets us apart is our emphasis on not just showcasing talent but actively investing in the growth and success of the creative community—one creative at a time. Our consultation services are a perfect example of this commitment. Each session is tailored specifically to the artist’s needs, whether it’s career guidance, portfolio feedback, or connecting them with the right resources.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how MiracleArts has built a reputation for transparency and fostering a true sense of community. We’ve created a space where creatives feel like family—where everyone is committed to uplifting and supporting one another.
For readers, I’d want them to know that MiracleArts is more than just an organization—it’s a movement to celebrate and uplift Minnesota’s creative voices.
