Today we’d like to introduce you to Richelle Taylor.
Hi Richelle, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started as a little girl with big dreams in North Minneapolis. I got started in real estate while in college at Shaw University, an HBCU in North Carolina, where I bought my first property—a townhouse. Through lots of trials, addiction, recovery, children, and divorce, I found my way back to real estate in 2015. I began acquiring investment properties one at a time, starting again with a townhouse.
I was looking for land because I had always wanted a place to get away and to be able to build. I ended up stumbling across this beautiful gem. It was a difficult process, though. Even as a property investor with the money, banks were not happy to lend me money on this project. But I persisted. After closing, I made some aesthetic updates and spent the first winter decorating and updating the home, which I truly enjoyed. Now, we have Fuller Life Retreat—a place where dreams, peace, and possibility come together.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been smooth at all. Life—and achieving my goals—rarely is. My life has been full of challenges. Overcoming addiction was incredibly hard. Divorce was painful. Even having my children was difficult, as it required a lengthy IVF process.
The path I’ve traveled has often felt more difficult as a Black woman in a space where we’re not always sought after for financial answers, and our skills and abilities are constantly questioned. When it came to purchasing this house, I faced rejection from five different banks, all of which told me no—despite having the financial ability, owning several cash-flowing properties, and running a successful real estate practice.
What kept me going was my persistence and sheer determination. I was at a point where I was willing to liquidate my assets just to make this dream a reality. That unwavering drive and belief in my vision ultimately brought me to where I am today.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Fuller Life Retreat ?
My business is centered around empowerment, growth, and creating opportunities for transformation. I offer a range of services, from real estate consulting and personal growth courses to immersive retreats at Fuller Life Retreat, my lake house designed as a peaceful sanctuary. Everything I do is rooted in helping others believe in their worth and take intentional steps to create a fuller, more abundant life.
One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of is founding the Twin Cities chapter of NAREB (National Association of Real Estate Brokers), an organization dedicated to increasing Black homeownership and enhancing the professionalism of those in the real estate industry. This work reflects my commitment to creating access, equity, and empowerment within the real estate space.
When I set out on this path, my goal was simple: to provide for myself and my children as a newly divorced stay-at-home mom. Real estate was a natural choice because it was familiar, and I knew it could help me keep a roof over our heads and food on the table. My heart has stayed pure, true, and authentic throughout this journey, and that commitment to integrity and service has brought me to where I am today.
What sets my brand apart is that it has grown from a personal mission into something much larger—something rooted in service. My work isn’t just about real estate or retreats; it’s about guiding people toward their fullest lives, both financially and mentally. As a Personal Empowerment Strategist and transformational guide, I create opportunities for others to reflect, renew, and take steps toward becoming their best selves.
Fuller Life Retreat, for example, isn’t just a getaway—it’s a space designed to inspire and restore, where people can connect with their own growth and transformation. The home is set on 65 acres and is the only home on semi-private lake and surrounded my MN Wildlife Management area.
My real estate consultations also go beyond transactions; they are about helping people gain clarity, confidence, and financial empowerment.
I want readers to know that everything I offer—whether it’s a retreat, a course, or a conversation—is designed with intention and heart. My brand is about creating meaningful change, helping people find their own power, and guiding them toward living a life that is fuller, more abundant, and deeply fulfilling.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I’m a huge fan of Audible because I spend a great deal of time in my car. Listening to books keeps me grounded, on track, and constantly learning. The more I learn, the more questions I have, and I love that process of growth and curiosity. I don’t really listen to podcasts or seem or blogs. Here are some of my recent reads:

2. Seven and a Half Lessons About the Brain by Lisa Feldman Barrett
3. The Spiritual Brain by Mario Beauregard and Denyse O’Leary
