Meet Krista Reynolds of Elko

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krista Reynolds

Hi Krista , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I first fell in love with photography in Elementary school. Taking black and white photos of horses. After high school I started photographing for fun and for friends. In 2007 I photographed my first wedding from an ad on Craigslist. I still have an image of their wedding day in my office.

After a few years of photography being my side job, I made it my full time job in 2011. Specializing in weddings and families. The wedding industry has been such a blessing launching me to one of top wedding photographers in the state. I am forever thankful to my amazing couples for trusting me with their memories.

Being a freelance photographer has giving me the opportunity and flexibility to stay home with our 3 kids and pursue my dream.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not! I think if anyone ever tells you it’s been a smooth road, they are lying big time!
Learning the ins and outs of running a business is not for the weak.

I had to learn how to promote myself and navigate an ever changing wedding industry at the beginning of the social media launch. (Facebook was brand new when I started.)
All while staying competitive in my industry and raising our kids. Which led to many late nights and LOTS of editing.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I started mainly as a wedding and family photographer but the last few years have shifted my business into more branding, product and family focused.

I loved what I did in the wedding industry but was feeling a shift with the saturation in the market and I was personally wanting to have more weekends free to spend with our family as our kids are getting older.

I am so proud of the many weddings I have done and the traveling I have gotten to do because of them. Also, the multiple articles and magazines that my work has been featured in. I am still so humbled by every opportunity.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
That no matter what never apologize for the worth of your work! And to never sacrifice your family time for your business.
