Hi Jessie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
From Burnout to Bliss: My Journey Into the Fire
I found sauna-or it found me?
Back when I was deep in the grind-nurse, mom, always putting fires out for everyone but myself-I was running on fumes. Then I stepped into the heat. The sweat poured, the cold hit, and suddenly everything slowed. My nervous system experienced a reset. My mind cleared. In that primal rhythm of fire and ice in Como Park, St. Paul, I found something I hadn’t felt in years: myself; relaxed.
But here’s the thing-sauna isn’t just about the body. It’s a portal. A space where conversations get real, masks drop, and strangers can become kindred spirits. As a registered nurse, I knew I had to bring that feeling to more people.
Once my children became adults, I channeled my newfound time into building Bliss Mobile Wellness-an off-grid, wood-fired sauna on wheels, designed for connection, ritual, and reset. Not just for me but for every body that needs it.
Now I curate experiences. Like this Valentine’s Weekend at North Ridge Winery, where I am crafting a bohemian tepee lounge-sheepskins underfoot, fire flickering, deep seats for deeper moments. Encouraging others to slow down and savor. Now and into the future-my hope is that Bliss Mobile is more than a sauna. Its intent is a space to pause, breathe, and feel.
Drawing from Thermaculture traditions of the past, the time spent unwinding between sauna rounds is just as intentional as the heat itself. Because love-whether for yourself, your people, or this wild ride of life-deserves to be felt.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Bringing Bliss Mobile Wellness to life hasn’t been all smooth steam and cedar-scented dreams. I started with a vision-but making a mobile sauna, fully off-grid, designed for connection and transformation came with its fair share of challenges.
First, the learning curve. I wasn’t a sauna builder, and entrepreneur, or a marketing expert when I started. I had to figure out everything- from trailer weight distribution to wood stove efficiency, from business logistics to social media strategy-All while making sure the experience I was creating felt intentional and inviting.
Then, the grind. Being a a one-woman operation means I wear many hats-setting up spaces, hauling equipment, managing bookings, and spreading the word. Sauna culture is still growing in the U.S., so I’ve had to educate, inspire, and introduce people to the magic of thermaculture, often one conversation at a time.
Weathering setbacks. Running an outdoor, mobile wellness business in Minnesota means I’m at the mercy of the elements-rain, wind, snow (or lack thereof), and ice. There have been moments of exhaustion, moments of doubt. But every time I see someone step out of the heat, glowing and grounded, I know it’s worth it.
