Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Omari
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
A few years ago, my cousin and I planned to get matching permanent bracelets while on a girls’ weekend away, but the artist wasn’t available. Months later, a friend of mine started doing permanent jewelry as a side gig. I called my cousin right away to plan our bracelet date! Instead we decided to share the love and host a party with a big group of friends to all get custom pieces.
That experience sparked something, and soon my friend and I were doing pop-ups, parties, and events together. As demand grew, I rented a studio in a salon spa in Eagan, where I also work as a hairstylist. Now, I get to combine both passions in one space and offer appointments without waiting for a pop-up!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been amazing to bring people joy through personalized jewelry, but like with anything, it’s come with challenges. The permanent jewelry industry has become very saturated in recent years, making it tough to stand out. At times, it felt discouraging to compete.
Investing in a larger inventory, opening a studio, and getting help with social media marketing has made a huge difference. But besides that, I’ve been incredibly lucky to have a strong network of supportive women who have helped promote and uplift me. Their encouragement has been amazing, and I’m so grateful for the community around me.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I design permanent (claspless) jewelry by microwelding together either a bracelet, necklace, anklet, or ring for my guests. It’s very important to me that I carry high quality gold, silver or rose gold chains with many options of charms and/or connectors for the guest to completely customize how they want. It’s important to me to have enough options to offer people so they can get as creative, or simple, as they want. I’ve had people actually ask me to design their personal piece of jewelry because “there’s too many options that I can’t decide!” I’m proud of all of the research, training, investing, and networking I’ve done to be able to accommodate my guests as best I can. Plus, just meeting all kinds of people and hearing their stories has been so fun! I get to brighten people’s day with a pretty piece of jewelry that they designed. Whether just for fun or for a meaningful purpose. It’s a special thing to do with the favorite people in your live.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love how much there is to do here in our twin cities. We have great restaurants, theaters, sports, history, and beautiful lakes. The people are just as great—“Minnesota Nice” is definitely real! The long, cold winters I could probably do without, but that’s just a good excuse to take a vacation somewhere warm and beautiful.
