Hi Turrion and Brittany, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
It all started 2021 when I (Turrion) decided to replicate my favorite dessert, The Red Velvet Cheesecake, that I usually get from The Cheesecake Factory for my birthday. I posted the entire process online. Making and baking the cheesecake, the 2 layers of red velvet cake, and putting it all together. I asked my wife to help with writing Happy Birthday since she used to decorate cakes for Costco. We got so many great responses online of how great it looked and it tasted amazing. I then baked 2 cheesecakes for Thanksgiving that year. A Sweet Potato Cheesecake and an Egg Nog Cheesecake. They were gone before dinner started and I didn’t even get to try them.
Baking those cheesecakes brought me so much joy and I got to a point in my life where I wanted to do something more meaningful. With my faith in God and my wife’s encouragement, at the end of 2022, I posted a question on social media asking if anyone would order a cheesecake from me. I got one order. I initially felt down about the lack of response (after having such great response to my first cheesecake post) but that one order led to the creation of The B.E.Z.T. Bakery.
The B.E.Z.T. Bakery is pronounced “best” to represent our quality and service but is also an acronym for our 4 children from oldest to youngest (not intentionally lol). Brooke, Ezra (twin boy), Zora (twin girl), and Toussaint. They are our everything and we want to give them something we never had.
Today, we have a growing online community and partner with a local restaurant to supply their dessert. We are actively looking to grow and see where God will take us.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No – definitely not a smooth road lol
One struggle I faced was my need to be a perfectionist. I have learned that being a baker takes trial and error. Baking, especially baking cheesecakes, is very delicate and one wrong measurement or missed step can completely change the outcome.
Another struggle we faced was not having direct examples to how this all goes. We don’t have business owners in our family so we had to learn a lot of the business world on our own. I’m so thankful for my wife who loves to research. She put in a lot of work figuring out how to make us legit lol
We’ve been impressed with The B.E.Z.T. Bakery, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The B.E.Z.T. Bakery is a faith based, family-owned (husband and wife duo) business dedicated to creating gourmet baked cheesecakes with a homemade touch. Our name, B.E.Z.T., pronounced “best”, represents not only our quality and service but also is an acronym for our children from oldest to youngest. They inspire everything we do. We believe that “A meal isn’t complete until you’ve had something sweet,” and we strive to make every bite memorable.
We specialize in handcrafted cheesecakes, offering unique flavors and creative designs that rotate seasonally, as well as custom catering options for special events and restaurant partnerships. Can you share something surprising about yourself?
The surprise that gets the biggest reaction is that we don’t taste test the cheesecakes. When starting out, we didn’t have the extra means to bake just to test so after prayer, we believed each cheesecake would bless the person receiving it. And it has!
