Exploring Life & Business with Jill Godes of Ravishing Rooms

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jill Godes

Hi Jill, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I obtained a real estate license in 2006 and began helping buyers and sellers find their dream home and sell.. With some interior decorating background, I had a keen eye when showing homes of things I would do different to the home to help them show better. I began staging consulting on my own listings in addition to helping some other agents I knew. After a couple years, I realized my true niche in the business was in the staging vs sales and I launched Ravishing Rooms.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Vacant Home Staging has been the most challenging part of the business. There is a lot that goes into all the inventory you have to keep, storage, moving the furniture in and out of homes. It’s a lot of work and the cost is high. The housing market has been up and down over the years. We have had booming years of staging and years where it’s difficult to get people to want to utilize the service due to market prices.

Staging Consulting- helping owner occupied homes prepare their home for the market has been our most steady and remains our top service.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Ravishing Rooms is a Home Staging and Design Company that services the entire metro/ greater metro area. We contract with realtors, builders & homeowners to help prepare homes for the market.

Our services –

I am most proud of nearly 20 years in the industry and building a team that has been with me for 10+ years. In addition to all the great agents/ builders we have built relationships with through the years and their loyalty to our service.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Every job is unique and has a story. Having a stager/ designer coming into your home can be scary for people. We want our clients to know we are there to help whatever their situation is or budget. No job is too small. We don’t expect a perfectly staged home when we come. How we live in our homes and how we stage our home to sell is two different things.
