Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Van Watermulen
Hi Tiffany, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
(Please only put my first name on anything publicly shared)
I started my business as a way to take my family on yearly trips to Disney world. I got the inspiration while talking to my daughter’s newborn photographer. My first event was the decoy show at the pacc and then it grew from there. The name “The painted turtle” stems from the turtle races in Perham which I paint at regularly.
I’ve since grown my physical business to multiple painters- we go to events as far as Fargo all the way to Brainerd. I also have an extensive reach on social media (almost 1 million followers across platforms) I have had videos reach over 90 million views.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are always growing pains. But the team comes out stronger each time.
I had my original Facebook hacked last year. It had 260,000 followers and was fully monetized… that knocked me back a bit
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I do face painting and teach others how to face paint. I am also an artist in other mediums as well.
I am most proud of the business I have built- and being able to do so while being a stay at home mom
My tenacity is what sets me apart from others.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I am a risk taker. I am not afraid of failure. Even if it is uncomfortable- it’s still important. I also think risk is individual to each person
