Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Lee
Hi Justin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
From my earliest memories, I’ve been driven by a deep desire to help people truly heal. Growing up, I witnessed family members navigate the conventional medical system, often feeling like they were treating symptoms rather than addressing root causes. Even as an elementary school student, I knew I wanted to be part of a solution that would help people live to their full potential – to enjoy life with their families and pursue their passions without health limitations.
This calling carried me through high school and into my undergraduate studies, where I initially pursued the traditional medical path. I shadowed various practitioners – orthopedic surgeons, general practitioners, specialists – but something always felt missing. The approach seemed reactive rather than proactive, focused more on managing disease than creating health.
Then came the pivotal moment that would redirect my entire professional journey. During my final year of undergraduate studies, I had the opportunity to shadow a chiropractor who became my mentor. What I witnessed in his office transformed my understanding of what true healthcare could be. Patients weren’t just getting temporary relief – they were experiencing profound healing. Some were avoiding surgeries they’d been told were inevitable. Others were reducing or eliminating medications they’d been on for years. Many were reporting improvements in conditions seemingly unrelated to their spine. Even kids were reversing “chronic” issues!
My mentor was the first person to tell me true healthcare is just about treating symptoms – it’s about educating and empowering patients to understand how their bodies work and how to support their natural healing abilities. Of course there is a time and place for emergency medicine… but the vast majority of people with issues going on are deficient in medications or surgeries… their ability to health and function at 100% is being interfered with! He showed me how nutrition, movement, mindset, sleep, stress management, and specific chiropractic care all work together to create true wellness. It was a holistic approach that addressed the whole person, not just isolated complaints.
That experience was nothing short of transformational. I knew immediately that this was how I wanted to help people – by addressing root causes and unlocking the body’s remarkable capacity to heal itself. With this clarity, I headed to Life University in Atlanta, Georgia, where I immersed myself in learning the science, art, and philosophy of chiropractic care.
After graduating, I returned to my hometown of Minnetonka to establish my practice. I joined with a team of MaxLiving doctors at Minnetonka Family Chiropractic and continued to grow in my practice and skills with the guidance and collaboration of like-minded chiropractors. We’ve built an incredible team united by a single mission: helping people break free from limiting health beliefs and experience their full potential through natural, evidence-based care.
For over seven years now, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing remarkable transformations in our practice. From children overcoming chronic health challenges to seniors regaining mobility they thought was lost forever, these success stories fuel my passion daily. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing someone who came in struggling with pain and limitation return to the activities they love.
What makes our approach different is our comprehensive system. We don’t just focus on symptom relief – we conduct thorough assessments (including Xrays) to understand the root causes, create personalized care plans, and equip patients with the knowledge and tools they need for lasting health. We’re truly partners in our patients’ health journeys.
When I reflect on my path, I’m profoundly grateful to have found my calling. There is nothing else I could imagine doing that would be as fulfilling as helping people reclaim their health and rediscover what their bodies are capable of when functioning optimally. Every day brings new opportunities to make a difference, and that’s what drives me to continually grow and refine our approach to care.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like any meaningful journey, my path to establishing Minnetonka Family Chiropractic has been filled with both challenges and growth opportunities. While I’m deeply grateful for where I am today, the road certainly wasn’t always smooth.
The educational journey alone required tremendous dedication. After completing four years of undergraduate studies, I committed to another four intensive years of chiropractic education. This meant watching many of my friends enter the workforce, begin earning, and seemingly “start their lives” while I remained in classrooms and clinics, continuing to invest rather than earn. The long hours of study, practical training, and rigorous testing required sacrifices that tested my resolve, but also deepened my commitment to mastering this healing art.
Life had additional lessons planned when my son was born halfway through my graduate program. Balancing the demands of an intensive doctoral program while embracing new fatherhood created a unique set of challenges. Sleepless nights took on new meaning as I juggled textbooks and baby bottles. Yet this became one of my greatest blessings – not only did my son provide unparalleled joy and purpose, but he also taught me firsthand about priorities, efficiency, and why creating a healthier world matters so deeply.
Perhaps the most surprising challenge came after graduation. Many assume that once you have your credentials, patients simply appear. The reality of building a practice from the ground up is quite different. I quickly discovered that being an excellent clinician was only half the equation – I also needed to become an entrepreneur, marketer, educator, and community builder.
Those early years meant spending weekends at farmers markets, craft fairs, and community events. Lunch breaks weren’t for relaxing – they were opportunities to give talks at local businesses. Evenings and weekends that could have been spent relaxing were invested in health screenings, educational workshops, and building relationships throughout the community. I found myself constantly stepping outside my comfort zone, learning to connect with people from all walks of life and effectively communicate how our approach to health could transform their lives.
What many don’t see behind a successful practice is the energy required to truly meet each patient where they are. Every person who walks through our doors brings unique challenges, personalities, and communication styles. Being fully present for each individual, customizing not just their care but how we educate and motivate them, demands remarkable mental and emotional agility. Helping people shift longstanding health beliefs and habits requires patience, persistence, and genuine compassion.
The administrative side brings its own challenges – keeping patients progressing through their care plans, managing schedules, and ensuring our practice runs smoothly while maintaining the personal touch that makes our approach effective.
Through every challenge, I’ve been fortunate to have exceptional mentors who reminded me that these struggles weren’t obstacles but opportunities for growth. Each difficulty has refined my skills, deepened my empathy, and strengthened my conviction about the work we do. The most rewarding aspects of my practice – witnessing life-changing health transformations and building lasting relationships with our patients – make every challenge worthwhile.
What I’ve come to appreciate most is that the challenging road is precisely what prepared me to truly help others navigate their own health journeys. The struggles haven’t just been steps to success – they’ve been essential ingredients in becoming the doctor my patients need me to be.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
While the Twin Cities area has many excellent chiropractic offices, our practice is distinguished by our thorough assessment process and individualized care plans to address root causes rather than merely managing symptoms. I recognize that your body is an intricate system where everything connects – from your spine and nervous system to your nutrition, movement patterns, and stress levels. This understanding shapes our unique approach that everyone truly deserves.
Assessment: The Foundation of Effective Care
Our patient journey begins with a detailed consultation where we explore not just your current symptoms, but your complete health history and lifestyle factors. Rather than making assumptions, we conduct thorough physical, neurological, and orthopedic examinations to understand exactly what’s happening in your body.
What truly sets our assessment apart is our use of specific digital X-rays from multiple angles. These precise images allow us to see the structural and functional relationships in your spine that might be contributing to your health challenges. This comprehensive view helps us identify the underlying causes of your issues, not just where you’re feeling pain or discomfort.
For your readers: If this sounds like something you could use … I would be happy to honor our ‘Friend & Family Referral” special; The entire new patient assessment would just be $40 (instead of $200-300).
Correction vs. Temporary Relief
Perhaps the most significant difference in our approach is our focus on correction rather than temporary symptom relief. After analyzing your assessment results, we develop a customized corrective care plan designed to create lasting structural and functional improvements.
This plan typically includes specific adjustments tailored to your unique spinal patterns, progressive phases of care to build stability and strength, and customized therapeutic exercises you can do at home. We don’t just start care and hope for the best – we conduct regular progress evaluations and updated imaging to verify you’re getting the structural changes needed for lasting improvement.
As a MaxLiving partner practice, our approach is backed by a network of like-minded practitioners across the country who constantly refine and improve our methods based on collective experience with thousands of patients. This means you benefit not just from my expertise, but from proven protocols that have helped countless people regain their health naturally.
Beyond the Spine: Whole-Life Wellness
We recognize that true health extends beyond just a properly functioning spine. That’s why we offer guidance in the five essentials of health: corrective chiropractic care, nutrition and detoxification, mindset and stress management, oxygen and exercise, and minimizing toxin exposure.
For patients interested in deeper health optimization, we provide specialized testing including metabolic assessments, hormone testing, food sensitivity analysis, and targeted blood work. These services are complemented by educational workshops, customized supplementation with pharmaceutical-grade products, and ongoing support from our entire team.
Our Specialties and Passion
While we help people of all ages and conditions, I particularly specialize in working with athletes seeking performance enhancement and injury prevention, children and infants establishing healthy foundations, expectant mothers navigating pregnancy with greater comfort, individuals looking to avoid surgery or recover optimally after procedures, and active adults wanting to maintain their lifestyle and activities.
There’s nothing more rewarding than helping someone return to the activities they love – whether that’s playing golf, keeping up with grandchildren, or competing in sports. We have endless testimonials from all walks of life restoring health and living life to the fullest!
Our Team and Environment
Every member of our staff embraces our philosophy personally and professionally. We practice what we recommend, bringing authentic understanding to our guidance. Our office environment reflects our values – clean, professional, and welcoming for families. Many patients comment that our facility is the most inviting chiropractic office they’ve experienced.
What truly drives us each day is seeing people transform – not just getting out of pain, but discovering a level of health and vitality they hadn’t thought possible. We’re passionate about empowering our patients with the knowledge and tools to take control of their health journey and maintain their improvements long-term.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Looking at the next 5-10 years, I see a significant transformation happening in healthcare, with natural and holistic approaches moving from “alternative” to mainstream. This shift is already underway as more people recognize the limitations of symptom-focused care and seek solutions that address root causes.
The conventional medical model, while excellent for emergency care and acute conditions, often falls short when addressing chronic health challenges. People are increasingly questioning the sustainability of managing symptoms with medications while the underlying issues remain unaddressed. I’ve noticed a growing number of patients coming to our office after years of this approach, looking for something different – not just temporary relief, but actual healing.
I believe chiropractic care is positioned to play a crucial role in this healthcare evolution. Just as dentistry transformed public understanding about preventive oral health decades ago, I see our profession helping people recognize that spinal health and nervous system function are fundamental to overall wellbeing. My hope is that regular spinal check-ups will become as commonplace as dental exams, with families prioritizing this care as an essential part of maintaining health rather than just addressing pain.
This transformation is being accelerated by our modern lifestyle challenges. More people are sitting for extended periods, using technology that promotes poor posture, experiencing unprecedented stress levels, and being exposed to environmental toxins. These factors all impact nervous system function and create a greater need for the support chiropractic care provides.
Simultaneously, public awareness about nutrition, exercise, and environmental health is growing. People are making connections between their diet and how they feel, understanding the importance of movement, and becoming more conscious of what they expose their bodies to. Chiropractic fits perfectly within this holistic health perspective, offering the missing piece that connects structural integrity with functional wellness.
I’m also seeing a shift toward more collaborative healthcare approaches. Forward-thinking medical doctors, chiropractors, nutritionists, and other practitioners are increasingly working together, recognizing that each brings valuable expertise to the table. This integration offers patients the best of all worlds – emergency care when needed, natural approaches for chronic conditions, and truly preventive strategies for optimal health.
Perhaps most encouraging is seeing younger generations prioritize prevention and natural approaches from the start, rather than waiting until health problems develop. Parents bringing their children for check-ups, young adults interested in optimizing performance rather than just addressing pain, and a general shift toward proactive rather than reactive healthcare all point to a bright future for our profession.
As these trends continue to develop, I believe we’ll see chiropractic care take its rightful place as an essential component of comprehensive healthcare – not as an alternative, but as a fundamental approach to helping people achieve their full health potential naturally.
