Hi Naomi Rae, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
As my daughters transitioned into womanhood, I found a lack of education and support surrounding this pivotal phase of their lives. I wanted to create something for them that would arm them with knowledge, while instilling in them a sense of empowerment – and to understand their cycles beyond the basics. It was also important to me for them to have natural herbal options to reach for when needed, along with easy to understand educational materials.
This prompted me to deep-dive into herbal medicine, studying in-depth how different cultures have used plants for thousands of years. That research, along with my knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and biochemical pathways, I created herbal formulations to help target hormone balance from teens to menopause, stress & libido support, men’s hormone balancing, cycle symptom support, and so much more.
I poured my heart and soul into creating Wild Ginger Herbal Apothecary and crafting the many herbal collections. After launching, things escalated a lot faster than I was anticipating, which led to branching out with additional products including comprehensive detoxes, men’s health, pain & inflammation support, mood & mind support, along with herbal magnesium lotions targeting muscle and nerve pain as well as sleep and nervous system support.
A majority of my orders are through my website, where I sold to 28 states in my first year in business, with no prior marketing experience! I also do local vendor shows, which allows me to connect and make a difference within my community. My products are in 3 local storefronts and it is so exciting to see my vision coming to life!
One of my favorite things is supporting other women-owned entrepreneurs, which led to my ‘Small Biz Besties’ movement. I have a page on my website dedicated to showcasing many of my favorites, and routinely purchase bulk products from small business to include as free gifts in my orders. I also include an envelope filled with business cards, coupons, and whatever else I can procure from these amazing businesses to use my network to assist in getting their businesses out there. I believe our success comes from helping others. There is room for all of us at the top and when we share networks, there is no limit to our reach.
Through Wild Ginger Herbal Apothecary, I aim to provide a sanctuary of support, education, and carefully crafted herbal tinctures. It’s not just about the products; it’s about nourishing our minds, bodies, and spirits. My hope is that my daughters will grow up knowing their worth and embrace the incredible women they are. I aim to make a lasting impact on their lives, and the lives of all women, and pave the way for future generations to rise and thrive.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The grind never stops, but neither do the rewards.
I definitely had to overcome many obstacles and challenges along with way. Besides the deep-dive education of herbal medicines and formulations, I had to ‘bootstrap’ this dream from the ground up with no outside funding. It was scary and a huge risk, but I believed I had something pretty awesome and all of the work has really paid off. Not just financially, but also in the fulfillment of helping others.
Getting feedback on how my products have been helping people is one of the best feelings! From helping women conceive, getting their hormones balanced & libido back, helping with PMS, PMDD, and cramps, helping men’s prostate numbers go down and testosterone numbers go up, and the support for depression and anxiety by using my formulations has been the biggest reward for me and has made it all worth it.
During the start of my journey, I also had to become a self-taught expert in website building, SEO, advertisement, marketing, graphic design, compliance regulations, accounting, and all the other categories us small business owners get to tackle. I have learned so much, and love to share my knowledge with other aspiring business owners along with collaborating with other current business owners to share best practices.
