Today we’d like to introduce you to Maurice Walker
Hi Maurice, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
As a young kid, I always dreamed of acting, modeling, and making videos. I remember binge-watching Jackass the TV show and thinking to myself, “Wow, it must be so much fun to have a group of your closest friends filming and having fun all day.” On the other hand, every time I watched a movie, I’d practice my acting skills.
When YouTube came around in 2005, I started exploring the platform, but growing up in a poor neighborhood made it challenging. I didn’t have access to the resources I needed to grow. However, when my mother moved us to a better area, I finally got my first camera and began my content creation journey. I’ve been learning ever since, and I’m still on that path.
Now, I’m on the larger side of content creators, but there’s always more to learn. My ultimate goal is to pursue content creation full-time and be able to do it without needing a traditional job.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all, but it’s definitely been worth it. Throughout my journey, I’ve faced situations where I’d work incredibly hard on a piece of content, only for it not to go viral. I’ve also been hacked, losing over $4K in earnings, and had my content on TikTok flagged to the point where my videos no longer reached my 600K followers.
However, the outcome has been valuable lessons. I’ve learned that posting content at the right time is crucial, that I shouldn’t click on shady Facebook notifications, and most importantly, that telling a compelling story through my content is key to creating something powerful.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What do I do? I’m a content creator going full-time, and I’m also an actor. I specialize in a few different areas, but what I seem to excel at is getting millions of views and making people laugh, smile, or feel any emotion. I’m really proud of all the work I’ve done, from the beginning to where I am now. Recently, I found out I’m featured on Famous Birthdays, which is pretty amazing!
What sets me apart from others is how I research things before creating content, and how my mind is always working, constantly thinking about the next piece I’ll make. And, of course, I stay true to myself. To this day, no one has made the same kind of content I create or pushed through the struggles I’ve faced.
