A Lifelong Commitment to Stress Reduction and Conflict Resolution:

My interest in stress reduction and conflict resolution was sparked early in life, shaped by the challenging environments of my upbringing. Growing up in a racially intolerant working-class community and spending significant time in the Chicago housing projects with my cousins, I was immersed in settings where anger, fear, and the potential for violence were ever-present. These formative experiences instilled in me a deep awareness of the critical need for strategies to navigate and transform such dynamics—both within my family and the broader communities I was part of.
In the early 1970s, the television program Kung Fu premiered, initially captivating me with its martial arts sequences. However, what truly resonated with me were the underlying principles of stress reduction and emotional balance woven into the show’s narrative. By age eleven, I became determined to learn more about these concepts, seeking out books and resources that could guide me. This marked the beginning of a lifelong journey dedicated to mastering techniques for calming myself and de-escalating tense situations in my environment.
Over time, this passion evolved into a broader mission: collaborating with diverse groups to reduce stress, foster meaningful community connections, and build resilience in the face of adversity. Through these efforts, I have sought not only to address immediate challenges but also to create lasting frameworks for peace in our workplaces and communities.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been challenging, but the challenges turned out to be advantages. Being in stressful environments riddled with conflict appeared to be the greatest of challenges. However, I came to realize that regulating my own feelings about the situation was actually a bigger obstacle than the circumstances I was dealing with. Learning to experience my feelings without identifying with them allowed me to shift my emotions and encourage more listening and greater harmony.

Our mission is to support businesses, organizations and individuals in realizing that the most effective way to effect change in their environments is to address emotional agitation and cultivate a deeper connection with peace and acceptance of their current state, while simultaneously working towards desired outcomes. Through this approach, our clients develop a capacity to navigate complexity amidst intensity, fostering self-mastery and enhancing their intuition and innovative thinking. This mindset promotes a solution-oriented approach, which is achieved through the creation of Healing Circles. Healing Circles provide an interactive environment where participants are encouraged to engage in dialogue and share their personal experiences. Each class or session equips participants with practical skills that yield tangible improvements. We provide comprehensive corporate, organization and individual services, including team building sessions, employee and executive coaching, Employee Appreciation Day events, speaking engagements, online or in-person group classes or private individual coaching. Additionally, our YouTube channel, “Touching The Edge”, features a series titled “Coffee with Drake”, offering practical, quick go-to tools for stress management and uplifting inspiring conversations to enhance productivity and resilience.

Over the next 5-10 years, the industry will likely prioritize stress reduction and conflict resolution as life continues to accelerate and challenges grow. These practices are invaluable for promoting individual well-being and fostering a healthier, more harmonious society, offering practical and accessible solutions to navigate an increasingly complex world.
