Today we’d like to introduce you to Kale Winship.
Hi Kale , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Blending the vibrant energy of 80’s funk with the timeless charm of vintage pop, Matcha Fever crafts melodies that emotionally resonate. Our Nostalgic sounds and heart felt story telling, offers listeners of all ages the chance to relive the past and dream of what’s to come. The quintet comprised of Minneapolis natives Toni Li (Lead Vocals), Kale Winship (Drums), Kyle Rutten (Bass), Jake Schultz (guitar) Jack Long (keys) all met through various music scenes and session work.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Accommodating music school, work, everyday life while pushing for our dream. Everyone goes through that though; we welcome it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We’ve been in the MPLS music scene for 2 and a half years. The amount of support and positive feedback from our fans has been incredible and we’re about to hit 40,000 streams on our cover of Tatsuro Yamashita’s “Magic Ways.’ We currently have 3400+ instagram followers and we’re gearing up to tour to Nashville in the fall to play for “Kinda Spooky Music Festival.” We’re most proud and thankful for the opportunity to open at 7th street and how fast our fan base has grown. What sets us apart is that we’re all session musicians with completely different musical backgrounds. Toni was brought up in the funk/Bunkers scene, Kale in Pop-Punk, Jake in Metal, Kyle in Rock, and Jack in Classical. All of that combined, creates Matcha Fever.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
