Today we’d like to introduce you to Jayne Poli.
Hi Jayne, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always been captivated by art, finding joy in creating pieces that bring to life the visions in my mind, whether on paper or canvas. To me, the world is a place of awe and beauty, and I strive to capture that essence in my work. My goal is to reflect the magnificence of God’s creation and bring a sense of peace to those who experience my art. I believe that through art, we can worship God and celebrate the world He has made.
Whether I’m depicting a stunning landscape or evoking a peaceful, joyous emotion through abstraction, my work seeks to transport viewers to a place of love and tranquility. I enjoy working with watercolor, acrylic, and oil paints, continuously exploring new mediums and subjects. The challenge of creating something harmonious and joyful through these various forms of expression never fails to inspire me.
For several years, I have honed my skills through experimentation and online tutorials, and as my art evolves, so too does my passion for sharing the beauty I see with others.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Self-doubt and the busyness of life often interfere with my artistic journey. There are times when the images I envision are difficult to translate onto the canvas, which can be deeply frustrating. The ongoing need to grow—not only in my artistic skills but also in the business side of art—can sometimes stifle my creative momentum.
I’ve learned that the key is to keep showing up, whether I feel inspired or not. Simply beginning—picking up the brush or pencil even when motivation is low—has become both the most challenging and most rewarding part of my process. It’s in that quiet persistence that growth and creativity slowly unfold. Because self doubt and the busyness of life often get in the way of my art journey, I have discovered that whether I am feeling creative or not, it is important to start drawing and painting. Continuing to create even when I do not feel like it has been the best and hardest aspect of my art journey.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a self-taught artist working primarily in watercolor, acrylic, and oils. My artistic influences are rooted in impressionism and expressionism, but I enjoy experimenting with both realism and abstraction. I’m drawn to exploring various styles and mediums, and I resist the idea that an artist must be defined by a single, consistent style.
While galleries often prefer a more unified aesthetic, I value the freedom to create without constraint. Perhaps in time my work will naturally settle into a particular style, but for now, you’ll find a range of expressions in my art.
I don’t believe art needs to shock or disturb to be meaningful. For me, art is about capturing the beauty of life—love, family, nature, joy, and peace. These are the themes that inspire me and that I hope come through in my work. Ultimately, my goal is to create beauty for the soul.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in luck—good or bad. I believe that God has a purpose and plan for my life. As long as I remain obedient to His guidance, I know I’ll be exactly where I’m meant to be: in the center of His will. And there’s no better place to be.
Success, to me, comes from hard work and persistence, and I bring that same mindset to my art. While I recognize that I was born with some artistic talent, I also know that talent alone isn’t enough. It takes dedication, practice, and perseverance to grow and refine my abilities.
I’m also incredibly grateful to have been born in the United States, where I have the freedom and opportunity to pursue my passion. I don’t take for granted the time, resources, and support I’ve been given to devote to my art. I’m also deeply thankful for my family, whose encouragement means the world to me and continually fuels my commitment to this creative journey.
