Kiah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After multiple attempts at different community colleges and not feeling the same passion and drive as I had for beauty school (which was always at the back of my mind) I dropped out of college and enrolled in esthetics school in 2019 to pursue what I couldn’t stop dreaming about. I graduated and became a licensed esthetician in 2020 and didn’t regret my decision for a second. I opened up my business 2 years after being licensed and working for other companies and with many challenges along the way, I still wouldn’t change it for the world. I have met so many amazing people along my journey as a business owner and take pride in making others feel more confident in themselves when they leave my studio.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would be lying if I said that the journey of being a business owner has been a smooth process. I’ve had many obstacles along the way and things that made it a challenge for me to keep pursuing my dream, with Covid, unexpected life obstacles within my family and losing my biggest support system, and a TBI that forced me to step away from my business for awhile to prioritize my health but I am so very grateful for my community and clients for their support along the way and I’m so thankful to be back running my business again!

My mission with The Wax Therapist is to deliver flawless skin, perfect brows, and unstoppable confidence. I specialize in full body waxing with intimate waxes being the most popular. Eyebrow services like shaping, tinting, and brow laminations. And custom blended facials tailored to a clients specific needs. I’m mostly known for body waxing and all eyebrow services. I believe that my consultations with clients to get a better understanding of what their goals are and being able to deliver them, getting to know my clients for who they are and treating them like more than just a number, offering hypoallergenic wax that’s safe for all skin types, and my expertise in eyebrows sets me apart at The Wax Therapist.
Any big plans?
In the future, I plan to add microblading to my services to open up more solutions for my brow clients to achieve looks they are hoping for. I also plan on expanding to a bigger studio and adding employees to The Wax Therapist to be able to service more clients and to grow an even bigger business family.
