Rising Stars: Meet Molly Fritz of Mankato

Today we’d like to introduce you to Molly Fritz.

Hi Molly, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I think we all have our Covid stories- well mine lead me to flowers. I was working in supply chain and dealing with the stresses that no generation has managed before. Shortages and hedging made my day job intense. This plus being a mom to two little boys and a little girl on the way my brain was spinning with ideas of things I enjoy but could make money at, So in 2021 we took the plunge to start growing flowers. It was a year to get our feet wet and take it slow. While we learned quite a bit about selling flowers, it was nice to start slow – especially since I was pregnant and it seemed like it was 100 degrees from June through August. Bending over and tending to the garden was no easy feat . Each year we have doubled in size and sales. In 2023 we moved to our current location that we continue to develop and grow in the community.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Every year has had challenges, we are on our 5th year and I’m wondering what is in store. Every windy / stormy night I wonder what I will wake up to and just hope for the best.
Year 1- I was VERY pregnant
Year 2- we were building in our new lot and the weeds were strong and no well yet
Year 3- my husband disconnected his Bicep and couldn’t even hold the baby making keeping up a challenge
Year 4- rain SoOOo much rain – last year June we had 13 inches of rain which stripped the soil of nutrients, water logged plants , and made it hard to keep up with weeds

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are a flower farm know for our self serve farm stand, u-pick flowers, weekly flower subscriptions, and special events

How do you think about luck?
Lucky to have a husband who supports my crazy ideas and pushes me to stay positive.

Lucky for the community support, I’ve met so many great organizations and people through our events
