Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My cousin Carlos has been in the cleaning business for years. Carlos was subcontracted by a man named Ed, who was actually thinking about retiring. Ed valued Carlos’s dedication and wanted him to stay with the company because he was so familiar with the clients. Around that time, Carlos saw that I was struggling to make ends meet as a mom of four, and offered me the opportunity to purchase the company from Ed. I felt incredibly fortunate to be considered, and after some thought, I decided to go ahead and take the leap into business ownership.
Thankfully Carlos stayed on board as my operations manager and main technician, which has been a tremendous help.
It’s now been two years since I purchased EMC Cleaning, and it’s been a rewarding learning experience. I’m truly grateful for the chance to become an entrepreneur, and I’m excited to see how much we’ll grow and what the company will become in the future.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The ride has been somewhat smooth, but I’ve definitely faced challenges along the way. Learning how to run a business while being a full-time mom, full-time employee and student required a lot of late nights and tough decisions. Time Management has been one of the biggest struggles – trying to juggle everything and still deliver quality service to my clients.
There were moments when I felt overwhelmed, but I kept reading myself why I started. Having support from people like Carlos, who’s been by my side since the beginning, has made a huge difference. The struggles have taught me to be more organized, more patient, and to keep pushing forward, even when things get tough.

Building this company has shown me what’s possible when you lead with purpose, hustle and heart. And I know we’re just getting started.
