Conversations with Mareon Prowell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mareon Prowell.

Hi Mareon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Growing up my mom always had music around me and my two brothers all three of us used to dance flip around the house trying to be b boys. My mom rapped with my big cousins jump in some ice (jisi) she was a story teller she used to tell us to come in the room so we can make sure her lyrics was tight she got me rapping did some shows dancing and became a background dancer at some point in middle school for a MN artist miracle McGee it was cool and got me more shows and was decent people to work with but things fell off and I started writing poems to females and putting them in their locker then my mama she taught me how to write a story so I wrote about my football team at the time I was on called jimmy lee which was my first song I ever wrote after that I was studying the game battle rapping practicing building lyrics and bars melodies and Metaphors high school I was known for my freestyle ability couldn’t have one school day without me rapping out of no more for about 2-3 mins each time I can as time went on after high school my homie I was working with do music too his name is breezy2fresh part of ozone creations he brought me out to the city’s and got me working with other serious artist and that’s where my journey actually began as a artist I had some homies from high school (wisdom, and abu/AJ I started a label with for about a year or 2 call VOTM we were doing decent but I wanted to do my own thing and find something different and I did I joined AMG at a time in life where life was not my side and my manger Veez Riddlez CEO of AMG hit me to ask to mange me which was funny cause I was already looking after going solo and when he hit me and we joint forces it was real work in we made a mixtape got some shows in met hella different artists DJs OGs and the best out of all of it it’s put me in a mode I’ve been trying to reach now it’s up from here the goal now is to grow grow grow this year of 2025 you will see soon

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Growing up we was broke as hell my pops wasn’t there and my mom was working 2-3 jobs at a time to keep us going I was fighting and also was fighting severe depression getting thru day by day of just you know not wanting to be here it took a very long time to break through that time in life it didn’t help with the deaths in my family and wrong friend groups I was hanging out with as a kid fighting thoughts seeing myself take my life or get hit by a car or getting shot this was something that was truly besides messing up my focus in music it was destroying my life around me

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
