Hi Maria, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Our journey began in 2020, when we found a shared passion for creativity and baking. Out of our home kitchen, Samantha & I started experimenting with different kinds of cupcakes – never imagining how much joy they would bring to others. With a dream to turn our hobby into something bigger, we officially launched Drizzled Cupcakery.
At first, it was about creating delicious cupcakes for family, friends, and neighbors. But as word spread, so did our vision. What started with simple flavors evolved into elevated, handcrafted cupcakes – featuring intricate designs, custom color schemes, and beautifully tailored creations for every occasion.
Building Drizzled Cupcakery was a true team effort. From long hours experimenting with recipes to perfecting our signature style, we poured our hearts into every detail. As life evolved, Sam eventually stepped away from the day-to-day operations to focus on her family, but her creativity and spirit remain a lasting part of our brand. ♡
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Overall, the journey with Drizzled Cupcakery has been a smooth and rewarding one. Of course, like any growing business, there have been challenges – balancing inquiries from different social platforms, pulling all-nighters in the kitchen, and keeping up with bookkeeping can definitely be overwhelming at times. But even through the busy days and late nights, it’s been such a beautiful and fulfilling experience. We’re incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received and excited for everything that’s still to come.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Duluth is a gem. There’s something incredible about seeing Lake Superior each day. It brings a sense of peace, feeling grounded, and a quiet reminder that beauty is everywhere. Duluth feel like the perfect blend of city and wilderness. The community here is also special. People look out for each other, and there’s a strong sense of local pride – whether it’s supporting small businesses, showing up for local events, or just helping a neighbor out.
Sometimes the cold hits so hard it takes your breath away, but that’s just part of the Duluth experience, and it makes the cozy moments even better.
